Question Subaru warranties

Does anyone have any experience with subaru warranties or zurich warranties? I am picking up my car this weekend at grand subaru in bensenville il and I am considering the extended warranty. Im looking for some feedback, experiences, whether they are good or bad. Thank you.

You can buy Subaru ext. warranty at any point between now and when you hit 36k/3yrs (for Gold one). No reason to rush other than to lock-in the price.

I've driven Subaru's for decades and never used the extended warranties. Going with one is, in essence, betting you will have a major mechanical problem within 100K. I've run many cars well past that and have never had anything major happen in the first 100K. Now, if you don't take care of your car...

Problem is that this also has a lot of new tech in it. I'm more worried about something electrical failing than I am mechanical.

How was your dealing with Grand Subaru in Bensenville? MSRP or you had to pay a market value markup?

The BRZ is actually remarkably simplified for a new car.

Our 2010 and 2011 Subaru and Kia don't/didn't have dual zone ac, touch screen nav, adjustable head lights, and heated seats(Legacy did Soul doesn't).

Fortunately all those electronic components are not necessary to drive the vehicle which is really what I was thinking about when I said that the BRZ is simplified for being a new car. Plus half those features are only on the Limited version.

Unlike cars in your signature BRZ has a highly-strung engine and lots of other unique parts. If I end up keeping it beyond basic warranty - I'll get the Subaru Gold Plus extended warranty.

I was considering getting the 7 yr extended warranty but my dealer explained to me that if you buy the warranty the day you buy your car it starts on that date rather than starting after your manufacture's 3 yr warranty is up. So as I see it, you are getting screwed out of 3 years to your extended warranty. However, I do plan to get the T.W.D.D. (Tires, Wheels, Dents, Dings) program that my dealer is offering. It covers any damages to the tires or wheels and will replace them on the spot as well as fix any door dings ($0 deductible). I've never owned a Subaru, but I have done my research and they seem to be realiable cars. Good luck with you purchase!

...or you can just think of that as 4-yr extended warranty. No one is screwing anyone over. Do simple math to figure out if it's worth it or not. Most of the time, it's not worth it.

Huh? I'm fairly certain there's nothing it covers before basic warranty is up. It's just years/mileage limits in the contract are relative to when the vehicle was new.
That said - tomorrow I'm gonna have the dealer appraise my other Subaru and I'm gonna ask what kind of refund I'll get on my current gold plan. If it's based on the whole 7 years - I'll post here. I expect it to be based only on the 4 years not covered by basic warranty.
