Code P0456 what gives?

I searched, but couldn't find any solutions. Last week, I started my car in the morning and CEL came on. I pulled the code and P0456 came up (minor leak in EVAP system). The first thing I checked was the gas cap. It was on tight with no visible damage to the rubber. The only thing I noticed was that a metal flap on the filler neck was missing (maybe it was never there to begin with on our cars?). The car seems to run just fine, but the MPG has definitely dipped a bit. What else can I check? The car is a 2013 BRZ with 45,000 miles on the clock.

Thanks in advance!

Check all your hoses and fittings in the system.

Welcome to ...... The Forum ......

You might consider erasing the code and see if it comes back ...... maybe it was just a hiccup ........

Thanks! I've been lurking on here since I got the car in '14. I did try erasing the code, but it came back the next day.

Awesome. I'll check it out. I figured that maybe this was something more or less common on our cars.

Wouldn't call it "common" but it can happen to any car. Usually some little leak someplace but they can be hard to track down.

Yeah I've been trying to figure out a small evap leak on my 06 Durango for a year now. Usually the gascap message pops a few miles before the cel so chances are it's something towards the tank or filler tube but there's nothing wrong visually. I did have someone say to change the vent solenoid, it apparently controls the pressure release between the tank and charcoal canister. Might be something for OP to look at in this case.

I should also mention that I my have an exhaust leak. I haven't had a chance to get under there, but I have an UEL header that may be leaking (Borla). I am wondering if there could be some correlation. Although I would think that an exhaust leak around the header would result in an O2 sensor code.
