2017 86 dead in the water
I have not driven my car in a week.
Keyless did NOT unlock it. I used the key. Zero power, no lights, no warning bells. Battery 100% dead. There was nothing electrical left on in the car. I have not tried to jump it yet, but I have tried several of my hi tech battery chargers and none of them recognize being hooked to a battery when properly connected. Even when hooked to a fried battery these chargers typically recognize a battery and give me a bad battery indicator, in this case they indicate they are not hooked to a battery at all. Very weird that they do not recognize a battery. Zero previous battery/ car issues. Almost all stock. Broken plate? internal meltdown? Evap pump just killing the battery while sitting for a week? Often his thing sat for a month during the winter with zero issues. 18 months old, 8K miles. 1.5 hours to closest Toyota dealer. I have other cars to drive, but I am really busy for the next 60 days. I do not really have the time to diagnose this problem, does this seem familiar to anyone? Common issue? Thanks, Scott |

Mine has sat for 2 weeks and started first try. Even left the trunk open for 18 hours and there wasn't the slightest hesitation. Something else is up with yours. You are 100% positive nothing was left on?

I don't think there is any way to push start it without the ECU and FI being pressurized.
There is a little block on the battery cable (bolted to the battery) with two very small fuses built in. Looks like one of them may be popped. Still seems very strange, like something in the battery broke or melted down. I can hook my chargers to a battery that has been dead for 10 years and it will still recognize that it is hooked to an actual battery. |

www.batterytender.com/Battery-Basics
Battery Tender won't charge a completely flat battery. Needs at least 4 volts to get going. One way to do this is to jumper to a good battery for a few minutes. And a multi-meter to see where you're at. Also probably not recommended.

Understood, like I said my battery chargers are pretty high tech. I can hook them up to a battery that has been dead for 10 years and they still realize they are hooked to a battery. On this thing they think the leads are connected to nothing. That little block with fuses attached to the battery, Subaru Toyota part only? replace the whole thing? looks like the blades themselves are NOT replaceable. |

Battery out of the car, nothing. I wonder if it had an internal meltdown. Batteries are an hour from where I live so It is nothing I can deal with for a while. Weird.

I drive my car once a week, maybe. Have since I owned it. Never a hesitation to start.. and it's got 45k on it. Sounds like something else is going on.. take it to the dealer.

Very weird. I could see the battery issue if you didn't have the blown main fuse. The two combined are strange. You hadn't done anything that could have caused a dead short in a main cable did you? Toasted the battery and blew the fuse?

I had a battery short out internally once. It took the body computer with it. I could see something like this popping a fuse, and then being totally dead next time you tried reading even voltage from it if it sat a while after. Mine happened in the middle of a turn on an autocross course...
