Market Research For Component Demand

Hey guys,

I’ve been working on a plan to start a business that caters to the needs of 86/BRZ owners who really want to send it. My company would specialize in fabricating high performance, tight tolerance, bespoke components for our cars via CNC machining.

My purpose in posting is to get a feel for what one might demand from my company and what components one might be interested, nay, compelled to acquire. I need to know what you need. Do you want a revised suspension assembly to convert our vertically mounted front struts to a firewall mounted, pushrod-type setup found in cars like the Aventador or F1? Do you want an engine block machined from an alloy you’ve never heard of? Do you want a part that meets military and aerospace specifications and standards?

Tell me what you want to see!! I have the funding necessary for such a campaign, I just need opinions.

All the answers to these questions will determine if I need to invest $10k or $100k in my equipment. I am posting in the track forum because I believe members like you will give me the answers I want. I don’t want to make pretty-looking shift knobs. I want to drive passion.

By now you’re thinking “This dude is unhinged”. That’s because I am! But let me tell you why you can trust me:

It took me my senior year in high school with no mechanical inclination or experience whatsoever to turn a rolling shell of a 68 Camaro and a Big Block paperweight into a beautifully-aged rust bucket that took wherever I needed to go over the course of 2 years. Since then, I’ve been working on obtaining my degree in mechanical engineering.
I don’t want to do it anymore. I want to pursue my passion.

My Camaro got the attention of the owner of an aerospace/defense fabrication company, and he gave me a job. I’ve been working there for a while now as a programmer, I’ve learned a lot and I am confident I can run my own company the way they do at my current job.

Anyways, if you have any questions please feel free to email me at djperrino@gmail.com

I’m aiming to get this business up and running within the next year, I will keep up to date those who wish to be.

Thank you for hearing me out, this really means a lot to me.
