Your example above seems to be the case (i.e. the bigger sales volume dealers are getting more cars compared to the smaller sales volume dealers), however the real issue is volume of orders relative to cars allotted.

For example, due to a stellar sales record, dealer A receives twice the number of 86's from TMCA per month than dealer B. However, dealer A is hugely successful at marketing the 86, and has an order list that is four times as long as the second dealer. Therefore, ordering through a popular dealer is actually a disincentive.

If this is the case (which I'm pretty sure it is), then it's a bloody disgrace.

Full credit to the dealers who are working hard (on here and in the dealerships) to make sales, but to make them have to sell a longer wait time to their buyers is poor form.

That said - happy to be proven wrong in any of the above.

Good to know, but the issue is more in relation to your customers who aren't driving their cars mate.

Take note Toyota !
Subaru is filling all their preorders first before allocating stock!
They obviously know what a preorder means.

Toyota Australia were allocated cars from Japan before dealers could order customers cars. Its the responsibility of the dealers to communicate this to customers. Dealers have had their allocation of cars since March. As I've said before dealers were frantically trying to swap amongst each other to fulfill customer pre orders. If that car wasn't available it had to be ordered in May.

Exactly as my post said. Your dealer wasn't able to secure the car you wanted in their allocation and ordered in May (when the system allowed dealer orders) for September arrival.

According to this article those who have preordered and put deposits down will get their car out of the pool.
If the car was ordered as early as possible I should have it already or on its way ?
Yeah my dealer says it's a supply issue from Toyota

OK I now know why my dealer was pressuring me out of my original pre order. Drove past last night and what do I see in the window? A shiny black GTS, oddly enough exactly what I ordered. If only I was willing to pay $2000 above rrp the it would be mine.

Not worth it man. You know as soon as you walk out the door there goes that $2k (5% value of the car) plus the usual loss that you expect with buying a new car.

$2k can get you a nice holiday to SE Asia - would make the waiting a lil less painful

Thankfully, If the wait goes out past January 2013 I can get my money back and walk away.

In WA, you are entitled to a refund of deposit if undeliverable within agreed timeframe (or 3 months if no agreement). Pays to read the fine print

So if I have to wait until Feb 2013 or later then I will just pull out and wait for one to be available second hand for a snip of the price

Good luck to you man, if there is an 18 month wait, then not many people will be selling there cars, and I sure as hell know that if I resell my car within the first 12 months of owning it, I will be charging what I paid for it NEW if not more......

People will pay that just to get a car straight away...

Complaining about the whole waiting ordeal is not going to get you a car any faster... if you want it just wait.. TMCA Australia has no control over you getting your car by the promised *ESTIMATED* date. FUJI (the car manufacturer) is the only candidate that can evaluate that, and I can almost guarantee you they are pumping cars out 110% and couldn't get a rats ass about all the bitching in AUS let alone the rest of the world.

This was not said as a massive rant against the 18 month wait. I appreciate that anyone selling their car during the wait period will get top $$$ for it.

Was more a statement that should I so choose (ie financial situation changes), I can opt out. I would rather not though as I really want one

My guess is that I will get it in March (a couple of months extra), but know really knows.
