Gruppe S header install question
Hi guys,, I just bought a used Gruppe s ceramic coated header and will be installing with new OEM gaskets in a week or so. Question is do I need the reflective heat shield that goes on the oil pan ? Car is street driven only and not abused. I don't think I will get the oil too hot but will the header blister the paint on the oil pan ? If so I will get one. Any advice appreciated.

Although I think the Gruppe-S header is shaped slightly different than the Tomei UEL, it still comes pretty close to the oil pan and the thermostat housing. I'd say if you have it and are under there...put it on. I don't think minimizing heat transfer would be a bad thing.

Since it's ceramic coated, I'd say nah

Thanks guys. I may just put a piece of insulation wrap on it where it passes near the pan with a SS band.

I have a Gruppe-S with the heat shield (uncoated), and oil temps stay around 210 degrees F just driving normally. When I do spirited driving on backroads for a little bit though, it’s not hard for it to reach 240 degrees F
If you don’t drive hard too often I’d say you’d be fine without it, but the less heat the better. |

You don't have to use their insulated piece. You can buy a stick-on roll of the stuff for like $15 and have plenty left over. Its worth the piece of mind

A little more expensive then I remembered but plenty to work with. Has a weave layer and a reflective layer
