ft86speedfactory.com
Counterspacegarage.com 86Speed.com These three sites have products fitting your criteria. Each product on these sites also has an owners thread with a myriad of experiences typically spanning several years of developmental progress. ALl kits can have the same issues and downsides if you do not understand how forced induction works or how to support it with other modifications ( fuel, clutch, your gas pedal, etc). A $10,000 assortment of parts can have the same reliability as a $3,000 kit. At this stage, as long as it's not ebay, generally anything will have decent quality enough if you can use it appropriately. I also advise you browse our in house for sale classifieds; forced induction is available frequently at a significant discount from (hopefully) trustworthy members. |

3-5k total for everything? Don't boost.
3-5k for the turbo kit and additional for install/tuning/supporting mods? How much power do you want? |

I spent $3900 for the SBD 400x plus install plus dyno tune. I bought supporting mods like oil cooler/vented hood and catch can later.
SBD and JDL is your best option on the market price wise. Everything else is at least 1k or more expensive. |

Just be ready to spend at least 1k-1.5k for installation unless you plan on doing it yourself... Also what are your power goals??

JDL & SBD proven kits at great prices. It sounds like you're just budgeting for the kit price which is fine - as everyone else mentioned pay for a good installer and good tuner, those are the two most important things. After that, supplemental oil cooling is good depending on where you live and how you drive. Failsafes, while not necessary, are an extra layer of protection... but in general, make sure you can expend an extra 3-4k at any given time for the day if or when your motor goes. If not, stay NA - even then in rare cases your motor can go but FI dramatically increases the load on a motor and accelerates any manufacturing defects that are otherwise 'in tolerance' on an NA motor.
