I suggest you setup an Amazon Associates account and link to the Amazon product page. That way you can earn a little cash on an excellent recommendation!
You're welcome.

The Amazon thing is an interesting idea, but I don't feel it's appropriate. I give advice because I want to contribute to the community. So I wouldn't feel right using links that I would profit from.

I have a dumb question, the manual stats 5.2 liter and I just did a oil change. I fill it up 4.4 liters and ran it for a few min. The dipstick shows full, should I top it off? I did buy a extra 1 liter bottle just in case.

Thanks in advance.

Monitor your oil level when you fill up. Take the level after pumping gas to make sure you have as much in the sump as possible.

Thanks for your reply, I did drive it for a few km to pick up grocery and recheck it. It still shows full, will check it again on my next gas refill.

One last question on the dipstick, im not really good at reading it, when I check the oil it does go pass the second dot till the end, so I should be good right?

Correct. The range between the dots is 1L with the top dot being full.

Thanks again for the thread. I've picked up that drip pan and jug. Wish I had the drip pan during the last oil change...had a bit of a mishap and still have some cat litter on the garage floor to help with the spill hah.

So is there any consensus on whether the regular Fumoto F-108 or the F-108S is the better option?

I bought a F-108 valve for my BRZ and installed it during my first oil change. I didn't go with the N or S as I don't usually attach a hose to drain the oil. On my WRX I also had the Fumoto valve with out the nipple as well. I think which one you get will be a matter of personal preference.

Because it's magnetic and not another filter, it can attract and hold particles below the filter's threshold (20 microns usually). Those using the Subaru 130 filters (Purlator PL14459) will want the FilterMag SS300, and those using the Subaru 160 filters or the Purolator PL14612/610 on their other Subarus will want the FilterMag SS250. These have much more surface area to grab particles than a magnetic drain plug, and will see every drop of oil that runs through the engine. Oil flows from outside the filter media to the center of the filter and out the large hole in the middle. So these will capture metal before it reaches the filter media.

Do both FilterMAGs fit the initial filter?

Would you suggest using the smaller one after the initial one?
