Technically being an ESL speaker, I find that it helps to allow for errors in interpretation of idioms. RIP intended as sign of mourning/sympathy for all of nation is my take.

Hate to be a pedant, but I will anyways.

Saskatchewan has 1.13 million people in the province. Canada has around 36 million people. Sask accounts for just over 3% of the population of the country. Humboldt has just shy of 5900 people living in it, so again, a drop in the ocean for the country at 0.01% of the country. So, really not a fitting post to make, I figured something additional had happened that affected the entire nation on a larger scale.

The flip side to that, is there were 28 people on the bus. Assume those 28 people all had an immediate family that consisted of 3 others. 84 people being immediately affected, not to mention the fallout for the other family and friends of those is absolutely devastating.

Absolutely shit situation for Humboldt and I genuinely feel for them. Losing 14, and another 3 people being in critical condition last I read is heartbreaking. Even shittier for those young men on the team is that they were on a playoff push and had it taken away from them in a twist of fate that had nothing to do with any of them. Life is downright awful sometimes.
