of course you have to change the maf scaling. the one in those tunes is for a stock airbox

A few things to add to discussion:

1) Nobody logs "knock" with either OFT, Tactrix or Ecutek. You log the ECU's response to knock events (without really knowing the magnitude).

2) Fine Leaning Knock Correction means the ECU is looking up a temporary stored valued. So if you throughout a log see e.g. -3.5 deg FLKC at a certain rpm, it doesn't mean the engine is knocking. On the contrary, it means the ECU is retarding timing by -3.5 deg to prevent knocking.

3) In one of HP Academy's webinars they mention specifically that the Subaru knock prevention is reliable to the point that it's not necessary to use knock ears when tuning Subarus (which they otherwise advocate strongly).

4) At IAM less than 0.4 the AVCS switches from "safe" ("low det" Ecutek) to the normal ("high det" Ecutek) tables. One could speculate that Subaru found 0.4 a value where "something needs to be done". The differences are above 6000 rpm where, as far as I can deduct, the changes lowers effective compression.

With regards to non-OFT users using "OFT's tunes" (rather "modified ROMs based on the interlectually protected property of Subaru"), I think it is only of benefit to OFT, as the community grows larger and more people can assist OFT users making the product more attractive. Really, neither OFT or Ecutek can claim property of something that was reverse engeneered from what belongs to Subaru. Subaru could probably sue both companies, but they too enjoys the benefit that car/tuning enthusiast have the option to have their ECUs tuned making their product more attractive. But let's put property into perspective here.

That was not my point

Prior to 4.x anyone with Perrin could get by without doing MAF scaling... it was close enough that LTFT wasn't huge and there was no knock. Now something's different in 4.x that it is outside of what I'd consider "safe" LTFT.

you are here the bad community forum user at this particul time, not me that tried to explain a thing to you and you were just covering your eyes and ears
Search on what? The v4 tune is new and I am not aware of any other tuner providing a single tune for both fuel types (normal and premium). Don't try to play it teacher on me by saying I am a bad community user. Who is the good user? The one who doesn't speak and just being a fan in whatever circumstances? We have here a community and if things are going on the weird side, we have the responsibility to "protect" the platform. Especially when vendors don't show up to defend their choices. If you continue like this, I don't see your days to last long here. There were many others with similar attitude and they are gone.

Search about what IAM is doing.. that's what we were arguing about
Using the Search Button gives an user many positive "points" because doing this helps keeping the forum clean and efficient

Also I never insulted you, why should I be banned? Because you don t like me and you don t like that I was pointing to you that you were saying totally wrong things?

Shiv doesn t sell the OTS tunes, he sells Openflash Tablets, and if you pay him, he sells dedicated tunes
He puts online OTS maps for free but if you aren't able to open and read them and understand them is not his fault.. you are not forced to use them

For sure they are safe maps, it's sufficient to open them and read the maps to declare this

The fact that is rare to see tuners doing tunes with IAM at 0.7 (again, like Subaru does.. it s not cheating and it s no dangerous in any way like you thought they are) doesn t mean it s a wrong thing to do.. to me it's a step forward to commodities to users
the downside is only that it requires a bit of time to adapt to higher quality fuels (not much, if you use search button you will find how to accelerate this process).. but since they are open maps and anyone can modify them, nobody's stopping anyone to in fact modify them to suit better the people's will
And if anyone has not the skill to modify, then he will pay a tuner a cheap price to modify them for him

You should enjoy your 4-maps Ecutek tune and not arguing with Shiv's choices if you maybe don't understand them

Back to the OP topic. I may be in the minority but I like how the new V4 tune got rid of the excess noise down low. I hated how it always sounded like I was trying to race someone everytime I left a redlight. So far liking the V4 tune on my 17

I never talked about IAM alone. The discussion was always with the combination of an aggressive mapping and the use of a low quality fuel. Don't put words in my mouth. So, let's stop the discussion here. I'm not in the mood to continue this more. You have been warned twice.

For some reason, I had the most problems in regards to knock with V4. I think it may have simply been too aggressive of a tune, especially with california gas. Also for some reason V4 stage 2, was the most raspy with my current setup than using V2 or wayne's. However, with my old set up V4 stage 1 was less raspy then V2 stage 1.

Overall, wayne's roms were the best. They were definitely more tailored to match the shitty california gas, yet feel really good on power delivery. In addition, I had the best AFR ratios using wayne's roms and a lot less knock.

+1 for wayne's roms. they are IMO way better than the simple base maps given with the OFT. However, that was to be expected, given the amount of work wayne has put into the base maps given with the OFT.

v4 is less raspier because the avcs is much more similar to stock timings, to 4000 rpm is basically almost identical
v2 is totally different down low and a lot raspier

Just loaded up these new tunes on my OFT. I'll flash the Stg 2+ tomorrow and report back. I did make a few modifications...just changed the LC RPM delta to 3800 and the initial IAM to .95. Based on the discussion here, I'm less sure about IAM but I do know I always run 93 and the fuel is quality enough where I should be fine.

I'll post the logs too, but I just have an openflash header and invidia q300. Is there any reason for me to not just set IAM to 1 since I know I'll always have good fuel?

Try it at .95 and if it goes right to 1 every drive and stays there then change it to 1. I'm tracking down some false knock and once that I'm 100% sure I fixed it I'll be using a v4 tune with it set at 1 as well.
