Stock 16 were 16x6.5 with 205/55/R16 yokohama decibel e70. Still, imho rather common family fwd golf-class cars often are something like 1.4T & 205 or 195 wheels, and often gripping much better in winter then twins on ice/snow even on very same model of tires, hence i mentioned that experience might not be 100% taken as is for similar feel of grip/confidence.

Would strongly recommend listening to this guy I'm about to buy those tires next. Sure you can get those nice Michelin tires but you'll be spending more. I've done a pretty good amount of research and they're pretty on par with the Michelin PSS, I don't know how they are against the new Michelin Pilot 4S though. Either way you can't go wrong, but best bang for buck I'd go with Continental

I don't know what part of AZ you live at but I've constantly checked the weather out of envy because the weather is terrible here while it's always hot and sunny there

But if you're dead set on a good "year round" tire

Check out:
Continental EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06 @ 128 a tire which is basically a 100 dollars less than what you intended on spending

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...06XL&tab=Sizes

Edit: So I finally just pulled the trigger just wanted to throw this out there. Discount Tire has a 100 dollar off sale orders over 400 bucks. Expires 3/19
I got a fresh set of Continental Extreme Contact Sport for $620 which equals to about 155 per tire. I didn't get the DT "cert" plan since Continental has their own coverage.

Hi all. Have been been away for a week. Again, I thank everyone for their good opinions and info.

I have decided to go with the PILOT SPORT A/S 3+ (W- OR Y-SPEED RATED) - SIZE: 215/45ZR17. I just did a direct comparison on Tire Rack and although the Continental rates very highly (#3), the PS A/S3+ rates higher (#1) in EVERY category of performance satisfaction except one, and that one is only .1 different. The best part is that it is only $21 higher per tire than the Continental. So I'd rather pay $84 more to have the number one performance all-season tire than the number three.

As soon as I return home I will order the PS A/S 3+.

So thank you all. You've been a huge help in steering me to what I think will be the best tires for my BRZ for my particular area and needs.

Except for steering feel, for real winter weather/road state and for track use.

For what you have described (solid all-around performance, safety, + reasonable ride comfort in a wide temp range, no dual sets of wheels, no track usage, weather cold enough to detract from a summer-only tire's performance/safety but not so low a winter-specific tire is necessary, and presumably some lighter snow but not enough to necessitate a winter-specific tire), I personally think you will be very happy with the A/S 3+.

Very good choice, sir! Thank god you did NOT go with the Continental DWS 06, they completely suck @ss compare to the A/S 3... at least over broken, rough, or unevenly paved roads. Which I assume you might encounter alot of in the mountains.

Thank you all for your kind comments.

Ordered them yesterday and had them put on today.

Have driven them about 20 miles testing them out a bit. I feel about 1,000% safer.

Went around some sharp corners fast and they were like glue. I think they make them out of fly paper.

My local dealer said he'd match any reasonable price, so I got them for a dollar less each than Tire Rack by using Costco's pricing. (Tire Rack doesn't have an installer within about 200 miles of where I live.)

With them one doesn't feel every little bump and crack in the road, which is very nice. They may not be racing tires, but they're very responsive.

So I'm very happy with them so far.

So thank you again for all your help.

I'll let you know if I have any issues, but I doubt if I will.

Thanks again.

Rich

Hello again.

I've had no problems with my new AS/3+ tires, and I like them very much. They ride wonderfully - but I do have a question for those of you who also have them.

I checked my tire pressure the other day and each tire had 38 pounds of pressure. I was a little surprised because I've never had tires before that were over 35 pounds recommended pressure.

I went to my dealer and was told that 38 pounds was the recommended pressure in this tire for summer driving.

Is that correct?

I want to make sure I don't drive on over-inflated tires, so I'll appreciate your comments very much.

Thanks.

Not sure where they got that recommendation from, but I keep'em at 35 psi for summer. If you don't feel comfortable driving around at 38 psi, just deflate them to 35.

Having said that, I have driven my A/S 3 at 37-38 psi before with no issues. I've also (unintentionally) driven them at 22-26 psi for a week or two. Michelin tires are very well made, I wouldn't worry about a 3 psi increase/decrease from the recommended pressure of 35.

Thank you, reeves!

I'm going to think about it. Maybe I'll reduce them to 36 and see how they feel.

Thanks again.

The recommended tire pressure is on the door, always.

There shouldn't be a problem with 38 and the tire has a maximum pressure stamped on it, probably close to 45-50 psi.
