The manual is also referring to a stock engine. Forced induction greatly increases torque, which greatly increases pressure on rod bearings. Our rod bearings are already unusually narrow, and the center pair share an oil journal. This engine was not designed for the torque loads of forced induction. That is why they have not added it despite all the demand. Your days running 0w or 5w are on borrowed time IMO. I would advise shim the pressure release valve and run 10w or higher on boosted FA20s.

Can you elaborate on shimming the pressure relief valve?

There is a spring-based PRV inside the front cover. By adding a couple of washers under the spring, you can increase the pressure it requires before opening, so you can run thicker oil/higher pressure without blowing it out the PRV.

At 110C the film strength is considerably stronger and thats only on trackdays. On the road I struggle to see over 90C. Time will tell if I spin a bearing but lots of people on this forum use 0w20 with an oil cooler and forced induction. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk |

while you've got the front cover off I'd say to remove the oil gallery passage blanking plate and give the sharp corners of the main gallery a tickle with the dremel as it has to do a right angle turn to get out of the oil pump |

So are we saying NOT to run 5w-30 without the mods for street driving? But its ok at track temp? Or run 0w-20. I barley see 190°f oil temp on the street and only over 200 in traffic.

More pictures as requested. This is my install on a 2017! Many thanks to a local owner of the kit, you know who you are! Love it! Not seen is the Jackson Racing rad/oil cooler combo, Tomei UEL and Top Speed Pro1 exhaust. I have also since added a UPR PCV side catch can and smaller pulley!!!

Just an update on the smaller pulley and Jackson Racing oil cooler/radiator combo from Mike at CounterSpace Garage... ran a track day two weeks ago. Never saw oil temps over 228f, and that was the highest. Mostly in the 118-124f range. Thanks for the advice Mike! Video link below. Track is short with little rest for the car, 30 min sessions too. Also running a delicious tune now. The Cosworth tune is excellent as well.

Well friends, if anyone is in the market for a Cosworth Supercharged 86, I just listed mine for sale: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...42#post3069842.
The car has been absolutely wonderful, and it's been one of the most enjoyable cars I've ever owned, but I've got my eye on something else, and I unfortunately won't be able to have two toys.
