I've copied your stuff down, I'll be in touch

I've found that so far, the hardest thing has been admitting to myself that things aren't great for me. Luckily I've had a lot of time so far this winter to do some serious soul searching.

For the past couple weeks, I've been trying to get the courage up to come clean with my parents about everything. I'm so scared about breaking my mom's heart once she hears everything and I don't want my dad to feel like I can't level with him.

It's going to be a hard go when I tell them...
OK, I cleaned off my contact info ..... thanks for your concern.

Now, a word about the phase you are referring to up above (bolded).

My "big book" calls that steps eight and nine and they go like this:

8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.

9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

The underlining is my doing. In my opinion, you don't have to spill your guts to your parents if it is going to hurt them. However, you should be "willing to".

Stick with it!

Maybe I'm out of line but I remind you of the unconditional love of a parent.

I think coming clean is the best thing you can do.

That is true. Very hard though, especially since it would be about 12 years of baggage to unload.

In any case, at the moment, I'm happy that I can look myself in the mirror and not hate what I'm looking at. That's a nice stepping stone for me to work up with

Feeling a Pi cruise today to locate the appropriate slice to memorialize Dr. Hawking.

Maybe cherry with a fine cuppa coffee.

@Cole, there was a time in my life I had become the guy people stopped hanging out with. I was that guy, going nowhere fast, doing a death spiral. Failing out of college. I would look in the mirror and hate who I was. I got help. I like who I am now. Forgiving myself was the hardest part for me.

Sounds like you are doing great. Keep it up, and as others have said, you are not alone.

Welp, it's pouring and now I don't really feel like driving out to get lunch, but I'm hungry.

Sessions must be paying off.
No one told me shit posting was frowned upon. Anyway the verbal diarrhea is normal on the first draft. It's actually better that you just spit it out instead sitting there wondering what you want to put down. You can (and should) go back over it a bunch of times, then you can clean it up, and make it have structure and flow. Some writers organize first, some later, but as long as it develops fluidity before you put it up on Amazon than you'll be good.
