Out of sheer curiosity, how does the cosworth tune balance cylinder pressures?

It applies fueling and timing offsets per cylinder. Can only be done properly if you have a pressure sensor fitted to each cylinder. It's a special spark plug that cost about £3k.

no just a fair bit of hard work....

and I should say our offsets only apply to our manifold they don't work with the stock part as the Cosworth part tunes differently

Matt - For the sake of the others out there that are tuning with a different company, do you know if any of the larger tuning establishments are accounting for the pressure differences and correcting them as Cosworth has?

I have the 1.2 system. Were the cylinders balanced with that tune or does that only apply if you also have the header (0.3)?

Other than RaceRom features, is there any difference between maps 2,3 and 4? Because sometimes I think the throttle sensitivity is greater on map 4. Seems more responsive?

I believe Matt is referring to the manifold of the supercharger. I don't know if there was any sort of balancing for just the Stage 1 series of set ups.

Sorry, I am a newbie here. I am planning to have Cosworth SC with stock manifold (header) and stock exhaust system. Is it safe then?

or it is safer to have Cosworth / Nameless manifold only? Thanks!

The stock tune has either fueling or timing offsets - I forget which one, to help balance them out on the stock intake manifold.

We are taking about the intake manifold as some tuners in the UK have been applying the offsets to other supercharger kits. I've heard of people doing it on the harrop and hks kits. Both blew a rod but I'm sure its unrelated.....

I am not aware of anyone else who has done cylinder balancing properly with pressure transducers . Shame Cosworth dont want to invest more time in this platform as it at the point now where I can see people buying a cheap 86 to build the engine.

Also other countries have race series where a Cosworth long block capable of 600hp like the one Fensport have would be very appealing even if it did cost £10k.

The various Cosworth EJ long/short blocks are quite well regarded.

How would you plan on doing this? You know the US tuners are cagey AF about their tunes.

And yet you still mention it.

Presumably just by making the tuner aware that the installation manual has the value and that it would be wise to use them otherwise you'll down on power and potentially stressing no1 and 2 more than required.

Anyone know if the supercharger mates up to the revised intake box for the (non European) refreshed 17+
As well, does Cosworth intend to release a filter panel for the newer intake box?
