Sparco EVO II USA Seat random feedback...
This past weekend at Sebring I sat in a car with the Sparco II EVO USA seat. It was mounted with the Sparco mounts. Looked right and felt right. Seating postion was lower than stock, which was a preference for me as well. I'm 5'8" and fat, I fit. Owner of the car is similar height. If you're an Orangutan, you might even want the seat lower. It may have been able to mount slightly lower - something to fiddle with, if needed. If you fit in the stock seat, you'll fit better in this seat. Brackets / mounts can be dealt with. This seat fits the car very well and looks right. Obviously it's not a full containment seat, but the shoulder support was good.
This is an easy choice for something you can't "trial fit" in the car. I would have no reservations about buying one and may do just that.

Were sliders used in this set up?

No sliders. Installed with a seat mounting base with the Sparco uprights you see there. I think it was an easy bolt-in.

Good stuff, thanks for sharing. I miss having a good one-piece seat.
I know you're big on safety, so be careful with things like, "If you fit in the stock seat, you'll fit better in this seat." There are very few one-piece seats I fit in, as I'm 6'3" and shoulder harness pass-throughs are often too low for me. I had a hell of a time finding one that I felt was "right". That said, I recognize your comment may have been exclusively about seat fitment, not the use of a full harness with the seat. |

Taking off from there...I fit in most chairs, but in terms of a chair fitting my body, I've found that Recaros fit me much better than the half-dozen or so other brands that either came with cars I've bought or that I tested out on a showroom floor. To me, chairs are like helmets. If you can, try it on before buying; if you can't, be prepared to send it back. |

I'm attempting to install one now with Nagisa Auto rails and I can't seem to get them wide enough to line up.

I have the EVO II (not US) as my passenger seat in my BRZ. Easy mounting with Planted bases and side brackets. No slider. Plenty of room and range of adjustment. I barely fit in this seat, though, at 6'3'' 275.
For my seat, I went with the Ergo II (L). The seat is significantly bigger than the Evo II and somewhat larger than the Evo II US in overall size and has a much higher and wider top with the removable halos. As a result, to get enough legroom, we had to make some modification to the seat base and position the seat far enough back that the top left of the seat interfered with the b-pillar and headliner. Those were removed. Tall/wide drivers with shorter legs may be able to put an Ergo II in the car without issue as at least one other 86er has done. If anyone wants pics, let me know.

I'd love to see pics of the base and how you mounted it in, Alan.
I have a race bucket here ready to install, just need a push in the right direction! |

I need to buy a new seat for my new build and knowing what you know, do think the EVO or EVO II is the droid I'm looking for?
I'm 6' even and 190lbs. 36" waist. Would the EVO II be too big?

I think seats are like helmets and gloves... you have to try them on. The only reason I bought this seat is because I sat in it, liked it, and it became for sale; otherwise, I would not have sought it out. That's why I shared this as I figured others may be wondering what works in the 86. Good luck.

Sorry I'm late to the party on this, but I don't check in here as often as I used to. As jmimac351 said, you have to try it on. I'm big, but carry my weight in the front, so seat width isn't as much of an issue for me as someone that is more pear-shaped. Go sit in seats and find out what is most comfortable that fits in the car. Remember, it also has to fit at the right distance to the wheel. Space gets tighter as you move the seat back in these cars.
