Ive given up on lightweight for a daiy basically. Seems like its just too much of a comfort loss for anything significant. LCAs are nice though

Mostly Ive outgrown my hybrid pads for track. Gonna jump fron Project Mu HC800 to Winmax W5 and just run stoptech Sport for daily with different rotors

I already give them 43% of my income so why do they feel the need to hold onto extra?
Yea, it's the same with mortgage deductions in the US (not sure how it works in Canada). It is hard for people to grasp that a mortgage deduction does nothing to help your net income, versus a paid off house.

I explain it like this. I hand them 4 quarters and say this:
  • So this is how it works, let's assume you are in a 25% tax bracket.
  • Your mortgage payment is $1.
  • My left hand is the bank, my right hand is Uncle Sam.
  • Now give me your mortgage payment (taking the $1 in my left hand)
  • Now Uncle Sam is going to give you your tax break, "Here is your quarter citizen for the money you gave the bank". (I transfer one quarter to my right hand and then give it to them)
  • Now, let's do it with no mortgage, (giving the dollar back)
  • Uncle Sam says, "hi citizen I see you have a dollar, I need 25% of that"
  • Now, instead of a quarter, you have 75 cents. Get it now?

I also always add, "and if you really want to get the deduction you can have the same effect by giving your money to your favorite charity, do good and get the money back"

The smartest things government did is make paying your taxes "convenient" through payroll deduction. If, even for a month, everyone received their entire paycheck then had to sit down and write the checks for the amount they "owed" there would be a serious tax revolt.

Well, things don't always work out as planned. My "retirement job" was going to continue being a real estate broker. Then my partner quit, to go make a make a "regular income" and left me with the business. I was supposed to slowly bow out and leave her with the business .....

So, I carried on for a couple of years, then two bouts with cancer slowed me down to the point where I wasn't effectively servicing my client base ....... so, I retired.

mrs humfrz is a few years younger than I, so I thought she would work, teaching school, for a few more years. That's what "I" thought ....... that's not what "she" thought. So, she retired "a little bit early" so we could ......."travel and see the world" ......???

WRONG again, humfrz ........ she retired so we could help care for our granddaughters. Yep, "the world" is interesting but another world (watching children grow up and learn hour by hour) is much more interesting ......

I do a lot of autox, so shaving weight is one of the main key to autox, so I gonna shave to certain extend without loosing comfort of daily driving.

Lightweight battery? Or rear seat delete?

AP Sprint is the answer on the brake upgrade side. For best street comfort I'd say blank rotors and a good street pad. And no salted roads I guess (lack of seals, etc. being what it is)

I'll be swapping mine back onto the new car even though I ended up with a PP and the OE Brembo package. Expect to lose even more weight. Will have to work to not screw the balance up, but interested to know where the final weigh-in lands.

This is with a full tank minus ~75 miles, since that's all I've driven it. I'm not in the car, but this is stock.

Might have to change LCA if the light leveling thing is a problem (didn't realize it was a thing on the newer cars...) and I can't fabricate a fix.

Shorai battery also does really well and a lot of weight in that. The rest is harder.

Even being debt free, doesn't mean you don't have expenses:

food
clothing
insurance (life, homeowners, medical, auto)
utilities
taxes (income and property) or rent
house maintenance
medical (to a certain extent)
entertainment
gasoline and auto maintenance
and if you have children/grandchildren - too many expenses to list .....

........ THAT"S where my money goes!

Isn't autox real strict on ways you can drop weight? Reminds me, need to try autocross...

Quite. I assume he's talking STX, but things like removing interior isn't allowed, for example. Big items are brakes, battery, junk in the trunk, seats, and often the header. Keeping it off the wheels helps (17x9).

Oh, I'll betcha she really understands. She just figures that if the money comes out of your paycheck ....... you won't be able to dribble it away all during the year.

THEN, when you get an income tax refund, she has to sign the check also ..... SO, NOW ....... SHE has the refund check, thus control of the money ...... smart lady ...... huh!
