it's been so brutally cold, I had to crank the car up twice today cause it wouldn't catch. Is this even normal? Anyone else experiencing this? Only had one car before and it started with some difficulty but always on the first try. This is new to me.

With my quiet cold start tune, it happened every now and then. Check your battery as well, since mine had to get replaced within 2 years of driving my car off the lot.

So really, it could have just been that my battery sucked, rather than the tune.

I also had to replace my battery not long after getting my car, but mind you my car was already 2 years old on paper when I got it, but only had 1000km. I'm guessing the battery had been run down because of 2 years with such little driving time.

Battery started showing some issues once it got cold; I started the car without issue one day, drove 5 minutes to a Tim's, turned the car off, came out and it wouldn't start. Had to get boosted. It continued to give me troubles every other time I started it, so I bought a new battery the following week.

I'm not driving my car this winter, but I did for the past 3 winters, and it never hesitated to start after I replaced the battery, even in sub-zero temperatures like we are currently experiencing.

Interesting. The thing that's perplexing to me is that I got the car last Feb and it's brand new.

Gaddamn its slick out there folks. Drive safe and keep plenty of room!

Remember, for this kind of weather, its better to brake earlier and harder to find the limits of traction (within reason) than it is to brake at the last minute and find out you have none.

I had to replace my battery this winter, it was the original battery that came with the car so around 5 years old now. Had 2 separate days this winter where it failed to turn over and just gave a clicking noise. Stick the battery tender on it and it started right up so just an old/cold battery. No issues since buying a new battery.

Yep. You need to have white headlights.

Ontario Highway Traffic Act section 62.7

(a) are coated or covered with a coloured material; or
(b) have been modified by the attachment to the lamps or the motor vehicle of any device that reduces the effective area of the lenses or the intensity of the beam of the lamps. 2002, c. 18, Sched. P, s. 19 (1).

Actually headlights can be amber but they need to come that way and meet all of the distance and intensity requirements.

62 (1) When on a highway at any time from one-half hour before sunset to one-half hour after sunrise and at any other time when, due to insufficient light or unfavourable atmospheric conditions, persons and vehicles on the highway are not clearly discernible at a distance of 150 metres or less, every motor vehicle other than a motorcycle shall carry three lighted lamps in a conspicuous position, one on each side of the front of the vehicle which shall display a white or amber light only, and one on the rear of the vehicle which shall display a red light only. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 62 (1).
