I ended up using a guide coat just to do it. I then wet sanded with 800 grit... then I applied the last primer coat in white. I'll sand it in the morning.

I decided to add more primer this morning after sanding... The primer I'm using as the final coat before paint is the Duplicolor Automotive Series Primer in White. I must say... it is a fine product... I can say that about the SEM High Build Primer as well... both are quality products and I'd definitely recommend them.
I also adjusted my masking to the exact location of the overfender this morning... I ended up putting down some good primer coats on the whole area instead of hitting only the parts I worked over and dusting the rest. The results are much better! I purposefully sprayed a couple areas heavy there by causing runs that I have already sanded down. I had to buy some more primer but I'll be soon finishing my last coat of primer before prepping for paint. __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix |

Primer stage complete...
Not perfect but served it's purpose... I gained some experience in body work. I have painted two coats of base and I may do one more for good measure... first I'll let it cure then I'll decide. Thought I'd mention that the base coat color from Scratchwizard looks correct to me...we'll see how the finished product turns out. Tomorrow morning sometime I should have the panel painted. Primed... ![]() ![]() ![]() __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix Last edited by zeal86; 02-11-2018 at 12:20 AM. |

Pearl coat laid down... but no clear. I was going to clear it but the 2 part clear coat has a pot life of 24 to 48 hours depending on temperature... In order to not waste any product I'll wait until the other side is ready for a clear coat.
Also, I need to make some adjustments on the inner framing for the gas cap... once I've straightened that out, I'll primer, paint and clear the passenger side rear quarter. Here are pics of the passenger side rear quarter painted but not cleared. The Scratchwizard base and pearl are very effective btw... I also recommend them. I left a few bad spots and blemishes alone... because they wouldn't be seen... I definitely could have done better... and I will on top! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix |

So the most difficult of part of my install so far has been getting the gas cap to line up. I'm almost there though.
I have modified the gas cap frame and just need to fiberglass reinforce my adjustments. It will look fine... maybe better than fine... lol Now before you think that the issue is replica related... I asked a friend who has an authentic Aimgain SN kit and he has the same issue... he has not addressed it yet. The stress on the door mechanism and the fender is causing the paint around the gas cap opening to spider web. Although I have a solution I asked around to see if there were any simpler solutions for him since his kit is already installed. I asked 6 Authentic Aimgain SN owners about this. 1 is my friend, 3 replied back, and I'm waiting on replies from the other 2. All that have replied stated that they had issues as well. Their fixes are related to the support bracing the inner framing from the inside of the fender. That's how good this replica is...it even replicated this particular installation issue... lol Also, another rep owner I know from IG has this issue. I'll have this done soon... I'll post pics once I do. __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix |

These are my adjustments. Others have told me they have done similar but to what extent I don't know. I had one guy tell me he just cut the frame support and left it like that. I cut the support but I added a new piece that is shorter and pushed back as illustrated. I also did another minor adjustment (not pictured) ... it is a likely required adjustment but instead of making a shim or using washers for spacers as others may have... I added some fiberglass resin. In order to attempt to keep the fix simple, my friend with this issue should probably cut the support to see if it will solve his issue.... if not he'll have to cut and reinforce the modified support as I am doing. ![]() __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix |

Another owner responded to my inquiry... finally a person without issue.
So 1 out of 5 authentic Aimgain SN kit owners said they had NO issues with the gas cap part of the install. Could be a QC problem... either way... definitely a doable adjustment. __________________________________________ projekt zeal86 build zeal.eightsix Facebook Instagram @zeal.eightsix |

I believe you'll be able to easily pick up a few high end sponsors after you unveil your widebody kit. Things are looking big for you in 2018.

Made some progress I'm happy about today...
Take a look...everything will be molded and lines beginning on the lip spoiler will continue seamlessly onto the bumper extensions. I'm pumped about arriving at a final product! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() __________________________________________ Instagram @zeal.eightsix zeal.eightsix Facebook |

Not sure what you mean... I was always doing the lip spoiler just not the one that came with my wide body kit... I'm selling that one. I'm doing a splitter with splitter end plates too.
