Ok, non-fanboi good enthusiasts, lets get back on topic. Instead of just bitching about the 2 minutes of *cough* problems with a cold transmission, tell us exactly why it happens and how to instruct the engineers to fix it. As any decent manager would say, "Don't bring me problems, bring me solutions."

I can say its the same way in the auto as well, its extremely obnoxious. I've gotten in the habit with just letting the car sit and warm up for 5-10 minutes before I drive. For the first 5/10 minutes i'm on the road i dont even touch the paddles.

I enjoy the hell out of the fingertip shift into second on a crisp, zero degree morning. IMHO, that's how any machine should be handled.

Weight is a huge physical barrier to a Mustang ever handling like a Miata, so the "you bought the wrong car" spiel is actually relevant if someone complained about their Mustang not handling like a Miata. It's far more expensive, complex, and compromising to drop +600 lbs off a Mustang than it is to add 100 rwhp to an 86.

I don’t know about any one else but I bought this car because it is an high reving, high compression, N/A,light weight, MT, FR layout car. I love the trq dip why because I never experance it plan and simple. I have not modded my car and I don’t need to. I am not an arm chair/internet expert. I’m sorry but I don’t think most people under stand that there is a difference in economy and performance N/A engine or at least they are getting them confused. The basis of performance N/A is you REV IT HIGH to produce its power. If your experaning trq dip from 1-4k rpm. So is every other pump gas engine out there. You should look at why hp and trq meet at 5k rpm. FI factory tuned cars don’t generally start spinning turbines till around 3krpm. So boost will come in later hence turbo lag. The advantage of turbo is you get trq sooner and then comes the higher top end hp. This means if your all about trq and max hp you would be more happy with an turbo car. I’m the other end. I love the sound and direct response of the N/A engine. I love reving the engine to redline that’s where it makes its power and can do so effectively before the gas shutoff then shifting gears and revmatch for that gear and speed smooth as silk. I love the burst of speed and power I get from properly driving an N/A. It Doesn’t matter to me if I’m in town on highway or having fun at the track or carving mountains.
The gearing and f/d in the 17s transmission are improved. It’s not as short as my 02 s2k was but it is smoother. Do I think it needs more power yes and that’s only because I want to see this engine platform compete and surpass the s2k for being a high reving car under 35-40k. Mind you ours cost 25k. So we’re close. I do believe that we could get up to the 8k rpm and 220-240hp from factory but it will take a lot mor r&d for it to be reliable to factory standards. Just my 2 cents. |

oh wow, wish I would have read this thread two weeks ago...I test drove a PP in 40degree weather, first time in a manual brz too. 1st and 2nd wouldnt work, hard to get into gear or downshift. I couldnt figure out what was wrong with the car, thought the dealership had messed up the car in a test drive or something. Walked away from even asking about the price. Yesterday I drove a wrx in similar weather and i was very surprised at how easy the shifts went in...might have to go back and give it another go with the car warmed up a it.
