I agree with @Tcoat in that the law is the law and you need to understand it and follow it. There should also be some level of common sense aspect of it too of course.
My question was probably more snarky in rereading it than I intended, I was really curious as to where the boundaries lie. My own personal rule is if I have had a drink (even one) I do not drive. Hence I rarely drink when out because I'm usually the driver. Thing is, I almost always have my car keys in my pocket even when at home. If parked on the street I don't think I would think twice about walking to my car to get something out of it, or walking by it to go get the mail from the mailbox. "Sleeping it off" in the car is definitely in the gray area though.

Stressful.
Two online tests this weekend. Been bruting my way through the HW. Need to learn everything STAT. As I am currently earning my money through UBer, it's hurting my earnings. Buuuut. I did just land a job as an online college instructor, so I hope that will help some. Can't wait to finish my MBA and be done with school for a while. Get me one of them "real" jobs. Oh, and it's cold. Especially for a southern guy.

Weather here today is beautiful (sunny, around 60F) but the weekend is going to be rainy and suck.
My biggest problem today is concentrating. The building where I work is in the middle of a construction zone due to a new facility we are building. There is a huge amount of grading equipment there prepping the site so it's like a massive Tonka truck sandbox. I keep wanting to just stare out the window at it. Not to mention that most of the work they are doing is right over all the primary fiber feeds going in and out of our data center... View out my office window:

What you inked was one unit in one police station. Don't think there are a lot of wrongful convictions out there from it. Even then it was not proven that it was wrong just that there was enough doubt for a judge to fall for it. There are several hundred thousand drunk drivers getting away with it for every wrongful conviction. Your buddy was an asshat and got caught. He was probably an asshat and has done it before. Nothing wrongful about that. You can your poor oppressed driver song all you want when it comes to this topic there has to be something done. People won't stop if you say please and they sure as fuck won't stop now so maybe we should just start shooting them on sight if they even seem impaired. There is no both sides to this argument.
