Found this poster from one of my first concerts back in 1976. "Hot Fun in the Sun #1", the first Bay Area "day on the Green".

I am so bored at work. Government employment is the worst. My new boss of about a year is such a lousy manager (controller) I sit and do nothing more than I work. Today I did nothing work related. I hung out here on the board, read some of my book, looked up vintage concert posters, emailed the shop to order my new clutch kit so I can get rid of the ACT setup i don't like. Sucks.

I didn't mind the military. There was one year that I had a "summer" job which spanned from April to September. In April and May, I pretty much sat around for most of the morning talking with the Battery Sergeant Major, Battery Captain and Battery Commander. Afternoons consisted of smoke breaks and working out, by 4 pm, myself and my singular coworker would be in the mess having a beer. Come June, July and August, my day consisted of an hour in the morning doing PT (Physical Training), then spent the day playing euchre or Settlers of Catan until we were dismissed. That summer I spent maybe 15 days total in the field.

It was magical.

I made a beef roast for dinner this evening. First time ever making one. Very disappointed in myself. It didn't come out great, tougher than I figured it would be. At least the roasted potatoes I made are pretty fabulous.

I suggest that you send a memo to your boss and tell him that you have nothing to do ...... and that he is a lousy boss.

That ought to bring on new opportunities for you ......

Where do you work ..??

The Canadian Army must have been different than the US Army that I remember. Didn't you have any rocks to paint ........??

Ahhh...... yes, making a pot roast tender. Put some beef broth and a couple of packages of dry French onion soup in a crock pot and cook the meat on HI for 8 hours ....... or cook in in a pressure cooker till it's half its size.

That will make it tender !!..........

No rocks to paint, that would have been mean to the troops, which is not allowed anymore.

I'll give that a shot next time I make one.

What was your job supposed to be? What base? That was not the normal work day for most regulars. They actualy had to work. And if there was no work and they were junior they would indeed be painting rocks. Especially on a naval base.

Firing Tp, Meaford. Amazing what happens when you have young Master Bombardiers in charge of everything, and then a big gap in rank until you hit MWO.
