last year when working on my buddies car I learned the lesson to never use you black phone as a flashlight because you tend to set it down where you are working. It just happened to be where the hood latch wanted to go and shattered the screen. Luckily it was his phone

As a technician I find tools inside engine bays all the time. My best find yet was a snap-on 3/8 drive ratchet. Some other things such as flashlights, bungee cords, pocket screwdrivers, and occasionally sockets.

Picked up our van from the shop right before a 10 hour road trip once we got there I noticed something hanging down from underneath while we were unloading: A nice Snap-On 3/8 drive ratchet with a socket - no idea how long it was dangling, but it made it back to its owner.
