I have no trouble with this transmission. I know exactly what is happening when it's cold and I deal with it.

Do those same professional drivers complain to tire manufacturers about the lack of traction when their tires are cold?

It's not just this transmission. All manuals sharing a couple key characteristics behave exactly the same way. There is no 'fix.'
Keep in mind you are talking to a bunch of guys that are used to a couple of feet of cables, rods and linkages that serve to mask all resistance with a built in sloppiness. The difference between that and a few inches of lever hooked up directly to the tranny are magnified in the cold. It takes about 5 minutes of driving for the tranny to warm up enough for smooth shifts but this is the age of instant gratification so that is too long for some. Even in the coldest weather this thing shifts like butter compared to some of my old cars with a tranny mounted shifter.

Works as designed. With understanding comes realistic expectation. I know you don't go balls out on your first lap.

How it should've come from the factory.

Pentosin's still working wonders for my 2nd gear shift/feel.
It's been below freezing here recently too.

This. One thing I notice on this forum are 86 owners who can't criticize the car one bit.

Yes you can 'fix' the 2nd gear cold weather lock out as a driver by;
-Double clutching to 2nd
-Shifting out of 1st earlier at a lower RPM
-Avoiding 2nd and lug in 3rd for a few seconds
-Drive slowly for 5-10 mins for the fluid to warm up
-etc etc etc

But why should we have to do any of this on a supposedly 'sports car' where smooth shifting is essential; when my 14 year old civic (Economy car) can be shifted with a pinky finger at -35C into any gear at any RPM?

Some of you fanboys are so delusional that the torque valley dip which is incredibly noticeable at anything above 50% throttle is a 'feature' to you

Don't get me wrong, I love my FRS and would buy it again, but not addressing the faults this car has and blaming owners for 'not being able to drive' for voicing out their perfectly valid complains is just damn childish.

Look if it’s cold out let the car warm up. If it’s warm out let the car warm up. Then drive. When your making coffee in the morning do you put your coffee grounds in the cup with what ever else and add cold water then drink it? No you warm up the water put that in with the grounds brew or press the coffee pour and drink it. Do you your self spring out of bed run in shave or ect rush to work and have a happy and full of energy No you wake up drag your self out of bed get coffee and it takes you at least half hour before your conscious of the world around you. Mechanicals are the same way everything should be operating at the correct level before you put stress on it.

How can it not be the driver everyone who is having the problem is clearly driving wrong. It’s not a work around it’s clearly some people learned to drive wrong. I have never had any issue of putting this car in gear or shifting I think it’s actually one of the smoother shifting transmission I’ve had. My car is compleatly stock. If you can’t figure it out get an automatic still not happy get another car! Every car is a little different it’s up to you to adapt and drive the car not have to car change to suit you. That’s why your the DRIVER!
