What do you mean before bed? I have at least 3 hours ahead of me yet.

The 2003 330i sitting in my driveway right now has Michelin PSS tires on them.
They are known to have bad cold weather traction under 50 degrees.

Los Angeles has hit around low 40s in the last few weeks consistently overnight, and it's made driving the car difficult from time to time if I leave too early in the morning. I don't drive the car every day, but know what the first thing I did when the temperatures changed? I checked the tire pressures.

I bring up your "51 PSI" comment because you refuse to acknowledge your lack of understanding about temperatures and how they affect tire traction, and keep throwing it back at me as if I was wrong. Yes, your tire pressure was set wrong, but have you even considered the fact that the colder temps brought OUT the issue of poor cold traction of your tires, which was exaggerated by your absurdly high PSI reading?

Sorry, I must be wrong. Let me reset the tire pressure on the BMW back to what it was.

Good luck to you.
At what point did I refuse to acknowledge the PSI had something to do with it? If I remember correctly (i dont feel like reading the whole thread again) My question was what should my PSI be and when Tcoat mentioned the cold weather I agreed and lowered it also. See its people like you that drive me crazy. Are you looking for someone to say you are the master of all and so you are right and feel better about yourself? I never threw the tire pressure back at you. I got upset with everyone telling me I don't understand max PSI. Please go away now the issue has been resolved. BTW Goodyear put that much air pressure in my tires so it had me confused that maybe these tires were made to run on higher PSI.

Good Luck to you

I could see where that would be misleading.

However, I have found, over the years, that just because some kid at an automotive shop does something, that shouldn't trump your own knowledge or common automotive sense.

You live and learn. If I was more familiar with low profile tires I would have known they were over inflated as soon as I felt the car slipping and checked the pressure. I had no reason to check the tires before this happened. These were my first set and Goodyear was the only shop who would install them for me (i hate those shops that hire young kids who don't care because they pay them low wages). All the other shops wanted me to sign something saying they would not be responsible if the rims sustained any damage during installation.

Ya, I hear that.

I remember back when radial tires first became popular (as opposed to bias ply tires) ....... I thought that people were driving around with half flat tires .....
