aFe drop in dy filter cleaning

So i have one of those aFe drop in filters. The dry one that doesn't require the oil. I put it in at about 20,000 miles and I am now at 40,000 miles. How often do you need to take it out and clean it and can you clean it with water? Thanks for the help.

So I took out the filter and cleaned it at about 50k miles and honestly it wasn't even that dirty. Just a couple of dirt spots here and there. I washed it with water and let it dry and put it back in. So should I now wait until 100k miles before I have to take it out and clean it again or do I need to do it sooner than that?

I reckon that depends on where you're driving the car. Since you're in Florida, with few dusty roads, I'd agree with once a year (or 20,000 miles).

However, I you go up to Georgia and drive around on the backroads ...... more often.

Georgia Peach I could eat a Georgia peach for hours😁

Correct Humfrz I can’t speak for the afe as I have had a K&N in every one of my cars. Out here in the desert I wash and re oil mine every 6 months or so really depends on how dusty it is. If you do wash follow the directions and if you oil the filter always remove extra oil. Happy driving.

Yep, nothing like a warm, young, sweet, juicy, Georgia peach for some good eaten ......

Oh, don't forget heavy peach tree pollen can also clog up air filters.

I just take mine out and vacuum it once a year. I don't even bother washing it.

Well, maybe so, but there ain’t nutten wrong with my long term memory.

I remember, back-in-the-day, when I was a research rep for a major manufacturer of pesticides and one of the states I covered was Hawaii.

I had contracted the PRI (Pineapple Research Institute), located near Wahiawa, on Oahu, to do some experiments involving pineapple. When it came time to harvest samples for residue analysis, since I was the GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) study director, I had to go to Hawaii and oversee the sampling.

So, the institute’s director sent me out to the plots with one of his graduate students. I remember she carried this very large and very sharp knife with her.

She asked me if I had ever tasted field ripened pineapple ….. I said no. So, she took her very sharp knife and cut one open and handed me a slice.

Sort of like the fresh peaches, she was …..errrr…..I mean “it” was warm and sweet and so juicy, that those sweet juices ran down my chin and got all over my shirt. We then went back to the station and she cleaned me up before I headed back to my motel.

THE END
