This car (340hp talked about up above) will be called a Celica, while the Gazoo Racing tuned Celica will then be called the Supra. As Akio said, this is the Supra, but not quite what you think. Think ala Mk. II Celica, and then Celica Supra. However, it will just be a GR Supra, and not a GR Celica-Supra. Again, this "is" the Supra, but not the stand alone Supra everyone was thinking.

That is the reason there will not be a M version of the Z4, and it's because of the GR tuned Supra, as this is what will differentiate the GR Supra and the Z4.

Personally, I like the name of Celica Supra, as it means to be surpass the heavens, but again I stress it will be a GR Supra.

If that's the case I just hope they price the two cars accordingly. Mid thirties for the turbo I4 Celica and 50-60 for the turbo I6 Supra? Am I crazy to expect that?

IF it is indeed slotted to be a Celica and Supra, then the Celica will probably be more like 40k otd and the supra being 60k otd.

They already *have* a proper rwd Celica, the 86. Honestly I would greatly prefer a sports car built on the 86 platform and not a BMW-developed oversized/overweight/overwrought/overpriced luxo "sports" car.
They could have done something a lot simpler and lighter and cheaper that I would have liked a lot better. This car's development has annoyed the Christ outta me... We coulda had a much cooler new sports car a lot sooner and for a lot less $$$ than this is gonna cost. Doh...

from what i understand, both cars will have an I6. the "Celica" is 340hp, while the higher performance "Supra" will be around 385-400hp.

Well, that all sounds like some bullshit.

Hopefully toyota just comes out with the car, sorted out, and comparably priced like a corvette.....and hopefully be able to keep up with one stock. (Base, not z06)

They ran a NA Supra in the past alongside a turbo model. I believe the mkiv NA was $30-35k over the years and the TT was $40-45K. I could imagine a 300hp $35-40k version and a 450hp $50-60k version or something similar.

Maybe they shouldn't even call this a Supra. Just give it another name.

These marketers what a joke.
