Good to know, Fenrir. Sorry I missed your previous post.
Still, rear fog lights in US - NO NO Unless you want to provoke a traffic jam. Pair with stop lights - seems good to me. IMHO.

I need to get around to doing this...
I wonder if a 7440 would be too hot for the housing. Of course a crazy bright LED would be barely any heat at all... |

I think the housings are designed for a 921 bulb based on the size. A 7440 puts out a lot more light, so I'd assume you'll melt your housing with that.

It's not a good idea to wire up the rear fog light to be on 24/7. It can be distracting to other drivers on the road. I'm sure you have all been behind a Euro car on a clear night where the driver has his rear fog on and has no idea.
Just run a wire up into your cabin and put it on a switch. You have plenty of room for extra switches. |

I drilled out the socket and stuck an 1157 socket in there. A 7440 socket is about the same size. I get crazy bright dual Red LED brightness plus the reflector. A 7440 prolly wouldn't be much better than the 1157 socket I did. Though, it's worth a try!
