I was disappointed when I found out that the FRS didn't come with a scion security option. An immobilizer (and sometimes an alarm) is not enough.

I hate aftermarket alarms because the installation is wholly dependent on the skill and focus of the installer (not concealing the wiring, making poor connections, harming the condition of the factory wiring).

At least a factory alarm with a visible/audible presence has a deterrent effect, and can stop or interrupt casual thieves when they break into your car or try and tow it away.

The one in the link states that it is a "passive" system and data needs to be downloaded to a computer before it can be viewed on the website. So, it would not help if your car was stolen because they would have stolen the device as well.

For many people the addition of a car alarm or immobilizer saves them substantial money on their car insurance. For people who are not rich or spoiled kids living with their parents for free, these things are important and actually do factor in when purchasing a new car.

I know this car is going to attract a lot of young "ricers" and wanna be enthusiasts, but please try and keep your inner 13 year old 4chan personality out of the forums. K thnx bye.
Why don't you just sit down and read my post history? As you may not know, since you only have like 5 posts, I am a jokster and like to give sarcastic remarks. I comment as I please, where I please. If you do not like my style of writing/comedy/sarcasm, well there isn't much I could do for you there.

I'm not sure after that comment I posted, how I would be considered:

a) a ricer
b) 13 years of age
c) a 4chan user
d) a non-enthusiast
e) rich and spoiled (would be pretty cool if I were)

Please elaborate your research, as I for one, would love to discover these magical powers you possess.

I didn't mean to disrespect you, and apologize if I somehow offended you via the internet. But lighten up jeez. Take the joke! You think anyone is dumb enough to bad mouth an ALARM SYSTEM?? The thing that prevents people from snatching your automobile, etc?

p.s. did you not see the "lolololo I be trollin' them"?

OEM AutoMate passive alarm system for the insurance discount. that's what they put in my xD as well when i got it. it took them about 3 hours to install as there was only one person familiar with the car, but i was fine doing it from them because they would be responsible for any problems that would arise. installed fine though and works great.

I believe all new cars sold in Canada (possibly the US?) are legally required to be equipped with immobilizers, just as a point of interest.

Get the one you can track live, then.

http://www.liveviewgps.com/live+trac...+tracking.html

$169 for it, just plugs into the OBD2 port (quite discrete) and you get 10 second updates in real time for $30/month.

I don't think you can even DIY a solution cheaper/better than that because for real time reporting you will at least need a cellular connection (presumably location data is sent via txt message through an SMS gateway), and a txt messaging plan capable of sending a couple hundred thousand txt's per month (every 10seconds adds up!)...

$30/month actually seems pretty reasonable.

Viper smart start sounds like it does a similar thing, less than 30/month, (but seems like it requires a contract) 70/yr for the gps service.
I havent looked far into it though.

Considering you joined a couple of days ago, you haven't seen anything. I advise you don't flame people on this forum especially if you can't grasp the idea of sarcasm. Go back to lurking, newb.
