The only nice thing I can say about IPAs is that they sometimes have high alcohol content. Otherwise, they're kinda nasty.

Otherwise I just want something light. Boys of Summer from Jack's is actually damn good for a light-tasting beer. Probably my favorite.
It is only .2 miles away so if we all sort of gather in the vicinity we can change locations on a whim.

Just an FYI that you should have snow chains just in case. I’m sure you can get them from Canadian Tire.

You will be passing the (in)famous Donner Pass. They had their own kind of BBQ.

I made that same trip going the other way last year on brand new pilot super sports (after picking up the RS at Carson City). There was some snow on the ground but not enough to require chains, but let's just say it was just as "exciting" and it felt like I was on "drift mode" already at some points lol. Glad I had AWD.

Mmmmmm....

Legit warning about Donner Pass. My brother mentioned it too. We'll be careful.

AWD ain't gonna help if you're driving on a summer compound.

Oh. Yes. The pass between Ashland and Yreka has been know to close for snow too.
And require chains at times as well.

Completely agree, which was why it was "just as exciting" I do feel there were a couple of instances that the car being more front biased helped, felt like the front were "pulling me along" as the rears were starting to lose grip.

Nothing like the fear of totalling your brand new car on it's maiden voyage

We had a train engineer up here in Washington that could've used your advice. :/

Traveling by train to visit places in the U.S. has been on my bucket list for a while but reading articles about train wrecks get me paranoid.

80 is a major trucking route and is usually clear unless there is a big storm.

If there is weather have blankets, food, water and cable chains.

Meh. Still a couple orders of magnitude safer than driving.

The forecast is rain so we should be fine.

But...

If we get trapped in Donner pass I know who is going first.
I will be able to eat for months.

Maybe I can pull off the same weather control I did when I was in the PNW.

The odds of us actually finding the pass are so poor we will probably come across a route that could have saved everybody.
