You seem to be the only one not following.
You spoke about an early, "2000's" VW having direct injection. I said Mazda released the first one in the mid 2000s.

I wasn’t claiming VW had the first use of direct injection—just that their use of it was before Subaru like in their 1.8T engine, which would give them a power advantage compared to this engine, making the two engines a poor apples to apples comparison.

I was in fact mistaken, for the 1.8T 20V motor never got Audi/VW’s direct injection system unlike other Audi/VW engines from that same time, but I still argued that regardless the two engines don’t make an apples to apples comparison.

Your incorrect statement that Mazda released the first, production, direct-injection, petrol engine, whether true or not, did not apply in any way to the conversation and was a comment made from left field or a nonsequitur.

I wasn't trying to say you were claiming that. I was saying it didn't have DI, so it can't play the advantage you're thinking it can, in the model you've outlined.
My statement that Mazda had the first GDI was completely relevant, given the timeline, which was to say the model VW you outlined couldn't have had DI at it's vintage, and wasn't incorrect, unless you can point out another production turbo GDI car that came before it.
Edit. It does look as though the 4G93/4 GDI turbo predates the DISI, though wasn't commercially available in North America.

Maybe they mean 4 to 9 psi.
4Piston.com does 500bhp from a 2.0L NA motor. Their boosted motors make up to 2500.
Good thing you were only "pretty sure".

The late 60's M35A2, was direct injected, would run on gas and was turbocharged ....... if I remember proper.

OK, OK, I'll go back to the old soldiers home ...... they are most likely looking for me by now ......
