Can you get the ARP studs? Stock length. Might be better than anti seize, which could lead to stretched/snapped lugs at factory torque values.

Amazing that a small-town hardware store had exactly the bolts and nuts (had to get 3/8 washers instead of 1.25, but that's fine). Now I need to find enough wood to pile under my front wheels to be able to get to the header/op joint.

Over the past 70 years, I have taken and put on maybe thousands of wheels on tractors, hay wagons, trucks and cars and never used anti-seize or a torque wrench and NEVER had a stud snap off, or a lug nut that I couldn't get off. Nope, never had a wheel fall off either. ![]() humfrz |

Add me to the confused column. Not once, ever, have I buggered a wheel lug. And yes, I remove and reinstall my wheels regularly.
Not saying others are doing something wrong. It's just a real head scratcher.

Yeah, that's my theory. I should note I don't really drive the car in the winter either, so not a whole lot of the salt and garbage they put on the roads possibly getting into the works either. But it seems to be some type of chemical issue that's really the problem, not inherently weak studs. Then again, I hear noise that other Subarus also have stud issues...
Watch, I'll snap a whole mess of studs in the spring when I start working on the car now (I think about 324 miles on it...)

You're also on the ocean. I learned when I lived on Guam, how quickly everything rusts in salt air.
