Holy cow do I ever hate selling stuff on Reddit.

It's amazing dealing with people who message you and say "Hey I can get (insert same kind of product, but not the brand you have for sale (normally it's an inferior brand)) at $xxx (and usually around 50-60 less than your asking price) so will you sell it at a massive discount for me, since I'm willing to buy a shitty product to save a few bucks?"

Can't even count the amount of times I've told someone "Feel free to do that, have a good one!"

Which reminds me of a back-in-the-Army story.

It was a cold winter night, in Germany, and we had been on maneuvers in the German countryside for about two weeks. I was a platoon leader of a mechanized infantry platoon. My platoon sergeant had a great idea. Since he knew the maneuver area real well and the poor company commander was always lost, especially at night, we decided to hold up in a gasthaus (a German tavern) and play the maneuver game on paper (a map).

So, we pulled my command track (M-113 APC) up to the side of the gasthaus and ran the radio wires inside. As the troops warmed up, and ate a hearty hot meal, the platoon sergeant and I “maneuvered” our platoon around the countryside.

Come daybreak we had to move out ……. before the company commander got his bearings.

Was this an exercise for the OC? If so, IMO, that's a pretty solid way to do it. Troops aren't getting ****ed around for no reason, and (most importantly) they're happy to have a good meal and comfy digs.

Keep in mind, my service was many generations after yours, so YMMV, but I was always excited to go on CAX (computer aided exercises, or something to that effect) really good way to get junior officers and senior NCOs trained up and proficient in a lot of circumstances, especially in the tactical sense of things. Also useful for our CP (Command post, which took data from the forward observers and translated it into data the guns could use) and the forward observers (since it could be done on a computer simulation).

Hell, even the guns could benefit from it, and be warm while doing it. They could set up the guns in the indoor parade square or vehicle park and do all the important drills (getting them "into action" which entails making sure every gun is pointing the same direction (to within 2 mils) and ready to conduct fire missions) as well as carry out fire missions (less important, as the drills are easier, but still a good skill to keep sharp).

Sounds just like Craigslist in my area! Guy writes me the other day... "I know you have $500 firm, but I only have $80 and its going to be a Christmas present, will you take it?" Me: "I guess you should find something that is $80 then!"

Iv'e hit the point with people like that where I just say yeah and make them drive far to meet and then I don't show up.
Make up some excuse why I couldn't make it and reschedule.

The best is that I went to check my notifications on Reddit just now, looked at the post and saw I got hella downvoted where I said "Feel free to buy that item". I am not a fan of people.

Cheap parts have Zero resale. Good parts at least are worth something used....

Ha, right? I guess this taught me a valuable lesson. In the future, I'll only ever buy either cheap, or used. If I buy used, I'll make sure to only ever lowball people, then be butthurt when they reply kindly to my terrible offer.
