Tried some hard lenses years ago when they first came out. Couldn't do it.
The newer aqueous ones work well for me.
If you get them flipped inside out they can be quite uncomfortable.

Only use them for sports or work that requires goggles, but it's handy to have the prescription.

There's web providers that sell less expensive glasses as well.
Just send them the prescription that you've already paid for.

Don't know if they ship to CA though. May be another over the border.

Oh, my, THAT brings on a back-in-the-day story.

It was a cold December day and my wife and I went into NYC to spend the weekend with some friends that had rented a house in Queens.

Even though those city folks could sleep in, I was up at 0600 and hungry. So, I went down the street in this Jewish neighborhood to this little market. One of those deep but narrow shops. I guess I looked sort of lost among all the old Jewish ladies, so one of them, seeing I was from "out of town", took me under her wing.

She told the baker to give me some of the fresh bagels, NOT the stale ones from yesterday, he was reaching for. And slice me off about a half pound of the GOOD lox, NOT that mushy fish he was about to cut up. Nice lady!

So, loaded up hot bagels and good lox, I went back to the house. Since they were all still asleep, I mixed up a pitcher of bloody Marys and had a party by myself ...........

Hell ....... I didn't know .......looked fancy to me ........ I only tried to worked on my old computer with the case off once ....... I couldn't find any screws or bolts or nuts so I just put the case back on and limited my fixing of computers to pounding on the case ......
