I was just curious. I noticed that in your unboxing/install video when you stuck your head/camera inside, that it reminded me of the inside of my Tanabe Medalion Concept G single exit.
Looks like the Greddy's internal piping diameter tapers down - the 3" piping gets smaller inside the canister and then opens back up at the tip. But, I couldn't tell if it was perforated/resonated or not. On mine, it is not. It's literally just a smaller piping diameter that it squeezes down to and then opens back up at the 4" tip or whatever. So in a way there's not really any muffling going on, it's just a slightly smaller diameter pipe for a little bit. I guess that explains why it's so loud and aggressive sounding since it's basically a muffler delete. Anyway, I love the sound of mine especially with my Motiv catless FP. Sounds so amazing. Car is looking good man, I love those wheels especially now that you are lowered! Very unique!

It's amazing stuff. Looks even better in person. It makes regular 1x1 twill look like peasantry stuff and plain.

Never seen anything like that.
He should make you the little garnish piece as well so it's all black back there. Unless you like the contrast of the red strip I suppose.

I enjoy the contrast, but I'm sure if someone wanted him to make one he could. Either way its a cool trunk and very rare/unique. So whats a race car without more race car parts? Following up the carbon trunk will be a Vortech Supercharger with a 13psi pulley and 10psi wastegate. That way I can run more power and torque down low without hitting that 13psi peak which I would only run with e85. Eventually flex fuel will be installed and some fancy maps for the track but I wanted reliability and this was the perfect compromise. I will be running the Race BOV that Vortech makes for added WHOOSHIES and CHOO CHOOS. Install date is tbd but sometime in May at a friends place. He has a lift and will make the clutch install easier.

Wow that CF trunk is gorgeous!
Any plans to get rid of the stock FRS trunk?

I have a video where I joke about the trunk. Might have more angles and views. I haven't taken any glamor shots lately.

Boy-o-Boy. Its been a while. Its been a long while. I'm sad that I haven't kept up with updating this build because I've done so much. But life uhhh finds a way (to keep me way too busy). Its been over a year since I made any real update and I'm sorry. I'm not too much of a celebrity among the community but I do feel bad/upset at myself for not posting stuff here. They say you don't want to meet your heros because you don't want them to let you down. Now that I've finished a lot of my performance mods. I am disappointed with where the car currently sits and now I have to re-do a lot of work. Or find another car/thing to keep my interests. But thats for later. Lets focus on the now..
The last update, I left with my new carbon fiber trunk. Here is some glamour shots to whet that sick twisted appetite of yours. ![]() ![]() I still love this trunk. Its by far the hottest thing on the car and I love it. My only wish is that I could mount a wing, something the duck butt option doesn't allow for due to the construction. The GT version which is similar to a stock trunk can handle the downforce. Talk to Joel, he has the goodies you want. So sadly I sold the Ohlins I had. Most people had much better fortune that I with them. The main seals at the top failed and I just didn't want to rebuild them at the time after only using them for a few months (bought them used). Performance wise, good god man, they were amazing. But I ended up selling them to Eric from Verus, he will put them to great use on his build and I encourage you to check it out if you haven't already. I'm an electrical engineer and I admitted that I would probably screw them up before doing any good at repairing them. So I took a nice loss on that transaction. Here is a picture of the main seal where you can see all the gunk collecting from the oil being pushed from the top. YUMMY. ![]() Again, if I could have rebuilt them, I would have but I just was so upset they broke and after only one real hard day of use, I was sad and burned on them. Had they performed for over a year upon purchase, I wouldn't have been as sad. But its a race car part, its not going to have an OEM 5ever warranty especially since its used. Lesson learned. As if I didn't learn my lesson about stuff breaking I decided to boost the car. Because I wanted that good SUCC. Everyone loves a good SUCC. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I got a vortech supercharger and a buttload of extra goodies installed all at once. ACT XT-SS clutch, UEL catless header, overpipe, the supercharger, and all the other garbo that goes with it. I had delicious tuning work some magic and kept it at a very conservative amount of timing so its peppy but not horrifying. (Foreshadowing, I wish it was horrifying) Upon starting it up I realized what a horrible mistake catless str8 pipe to a 3in greddy single exit is. The worst part is that I drove it 8 hours to my house afterwards and my ears were ringing when I got home. I then wore earplugs to work every day until I put the stock muffler on it. Take any subaru rally car video and thats what it sounded like, gunshot backfires and all. My friends at all the cars and coffees called me the highschoolers wet dream but I was over it. I wanted something less obnoxious since its still a daily. So for now it has the OEM muffler. I did go to Touge Fest again and I was up everyone's butt since the car is unstoppable with that power and handling. 2017 vs 2019, you can see the car sits higher now :C But I still keep up with my other boosted friends. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() But sadly it's hard when you get disappointed from the decisions you make.... If you have followed my build for a while, so much has changed over the past 3-4 years. Part of me loves this car. I travel now for work as an Engineer for Honeywell and so I am gone 80% of the year. Every time I get back and drive this car I feel happy and how much I love it. But at the same time. I am at a point where a built motor, motec ecu and a turbo is what I want next. I'm just a dumb 20 something year old who has car ADHD and has to keep building a car otherwise I'll lose my mind. While most people my age would be stoked to have a car like this, they never got to see all the meals I would replace with Soylent or the pennies I pinched just to buy the trunk. Or the debt I threw myself into just so I could be a boosty boi. I love the car. I love the platform. But I honestly want a fresh start, or just to full send this thing into no mans land of built, fully stripped, and nearly undrivable. My friend in the picture above with the black BRZ has a Borg Warner EFR with a Motec ECU. You don't know what speed or hoodrat means until you drive something like that. Its rowdy, surging, evil power that wants to scream all the way up into an obscene red line close to 9k. The FRS is quick now, don't get me wrong. It will spook some people that don't drive fast cars. It's linear and feels good and is really reliable. I'm close to 30k on the motor with boost, and 80k miles over all. But I know if I get an EFR and make 400WHP I will be gambling with time. A built motor isn't cheap but then again, its cheaper than a kit car or a 996/997 turbo (dream car). So I lay here restless half the time wondering what do I do next. What is the next thing. With so much history with this car, I'm not sure I could ever get rid of it. But I also don't like how it sits. I would rather have a turbo, built motor, racing seats, more carbon fiber bits from joel, Wedsports tc105x, some sort of R888 tire equivalent, more downforce. ETC. I think alot of us always think about what do we do next? What is the next thing? How do we progress? How do we keep from losing the fire of passion and what do we do about it? I believe a lot of people get to the point where I am at and they just sell and move on to the next car. A corvette, a cayman s, a m3, a wrx.. They go on to do something different. I am trying to find ways to keep this car.... I just am scared I can find myself 80k into this car and look back with a regret. Because lets be real. 80k is a lot of money, regardless of the platform save the godtier exotics. Can I be okay with spending that much on a car that I have such a mixed history with? Because I do find being content with where the car is at, a little difficult. I am basically a child who gets paid too much. Maybe I can be content as I continue to age. But I think at some point I will part ways with this car. And I don't know when that is, but its sad to think about. I have sunk a lot of my own image and personality into the car. Its the mechanical representation of who I am in a way, like a part of my identity. I don't know who I would be without the car because it has defined the past 5 years of my life. Between obsessing with the platform, buying one for myself, and molesting the car; my life has revolved around it. So its a long story, and hopefully I can find the answers to my questions. Thanks for reading this somewhat long post. I will post more stuff. But this is just one of those "confusing" times in my life. Hopefully its for the best. Let me know your thoughts on what you would do. What would you say to the person you were when you bought this car? What would you do differently?
