Sorry, It is just you. WTF is wrong with you?

Seriously, I think the old saw that "familiarity breeds contempt" can describe human reactions to all sorts of things. To keep things (even marriages) fresh you have to work at it. For me, the car issue is a little easier for a couple of reasons. When I first brought my BRZ home, I had to spend 1000 miles breaking it in. I have a particular regimen I use for breaking in high specific output engines and it's a bit of a drudge. Once that was done, I could really enjoy the car. It's close to most fun I can have with my clothes on, and, as I push further into the wrong side of 60 it may be getting closer the most fun I can have, period.

Second. My daily driver is an '06 F150 4.2l v-6, std. It is, in a word, slow. And a bit of a pig. I love it for what it does and is, but it does and is little related to "performance." The BRZ is my weekend, fair weather, road trip mount. It is so different from the truck that every time I get in the BRZ, it feels new again. Drive it. Fondle it. Enjoy it. Good luck.

have driven over 100 k miles over two 86s and i still have the same enthusiasm for the twins, don't care about any of its flaws...if the car doesn't do it for you just go for something else, not every car especially one of this type of driving experience, is for everyone.

On the weekends I mostly drive the fam around in a Suburban. So come Monday morning I am actually excited to jump in the FRS to drive to work for an hour in stop and go traffic. Hahaha. So yeah, having multiple cars that are on opposite sides of the spectrum can help.

Yep, I drive rentals for business travel and it definitely rejuvenates the enthusiasm.

+10000 for starting to autocross it. Check out the SCCA Starting Line school.

You'll thank me right after the school. Then you'll curse me for how addicted you get to the sport.

Do you have any roads nearby that would be fun to drive? Twisty roads with some elevation changes are perfect.

Especially if when you normally drive the car it's for normal daily-ing. Take it out on the fun roads and you'll see the true purpose and potential of the car, which is very exciting.

I usually drive my gf's Fiesta on weekdays unless we have different shifts, so anytime I can hop on my beautiful I make sure I enjoy it, even if it's just cruising through the city. The fact that I have an aftermarket exhaust also helps, it reminds me it's not everyone else's Maxima.

It will be 3 years in Jan and I still love it. I went on 2 drives in the hills just last weekend. I'm trying to get as many runs in the hills as I can before the bad weather hits. I've owned many of fun cars in my days, but I have to say, I'm amazed at how much fun I'm having with this car. It might just be at the top of the list.

Swap cars with a friend that owns a mundane car for a few days. When you get yours back you'll appreciate it again. Renew your perspective. Your friend will enjoy the experience, too. And it costs nothing to try.

But your friend will hate you for taking it back. Hahaha

Maybe this type of car just isn't for you? You said it's your first sports car, what made you decide to buy the car in the first place? A lot of people don't really like the fact that you need to rev it up and shift all the time to get the most out of the car. Maybe you would enjoy something with more low end torque instead? Something a little heavier, but with a lot more power? This car isn't for everyone. If you've only had it 6 months and you're already yearning for something else, that's not a great sign.

Hmm... I hate to say this but this seems somewhat right to me. Part of me keeps whispering that I want a car that is more muscular and faster than BRZ mainly because the roads I encounter on a daily basis are pretty much all straight. Yeah, I really need to take it to an autocross or do some mountain drive at least haha. By the way, I have spent roughly about 1.5k so far for modifications including cat-back exhaust/air-intake and a lot of cosmetic things.
