Its been 110ish for a while during the days here...have driven in it for 12 hours straight without any performance loss.

I don't know how people that discuss some issues like this are sitting on thier break in period, mine is well past and I just drive it like its meant to be driven. I suppose if your sticking to the sub 4k rpm break in, then it would be a little sluggish...once I get past that dip in the torque band the car is alive....even in the heat.

This, the car has no get up and go at the lower RPMs, which makes this break in period a pain

was your a/c on the ride back? That could explain the sluggishness compared to the morning. But yes- ambient temps will increase/decrease hp a little, moreso on most turbocharged cars. I know on my 135i, the stock ecu would actually add boost to compensate for the loss of power in hotter weather, however most turbo cars don't do that...

This car does not seem to make a difference in weather to me. I have driven in when it was in the lo 70's at night, and all week when it has been over 100 here in Minneapolis and I can't notice a huge difference. I can't however say the same to the other cars I have owned...

Cold air is more dense with oxygen molecules thus allowing a more complete fuel burn.
Complete fuel burn = more power.

I noticed this awhile ago after I turbo'd my previous car and on cold/winter nights, my car felt its fastest.
Daytime always felt a bit slower.

You still have a tight engine. Wait til it's broken in.

After reviewing several threads on the forums here and other engine building forums, the general consensus was that there is no benefit to "breaking in" your motor and in fact, you're actually better off driving it how you normally would right out of the gate. Specifically, it's GOOD for the motor to rev it out merging onto the highway and engine breaking to slow down (vary the RPM's basically). Obviously don't keep it at redline, but there's no real reason to baby it for the first 1000 miles.

Yesterday was our first nice day after a long stretch of Rain - started out very crisp in the morning (14°C - 57°F). Driving in, I felt like my FR-S was the fastest thing on the road, I was zipping around - loving the intake noise, and having a hell of a good time.

On the way home, the temp was 26° (79°F) ...the car felt like a total slug!! I've experienced differences in performance in other cars, but I couldn't believe the difference in the FR-S.. it was like it was a different car.. sluggish and under performing. I almost felt like something was wrong.

Has anyone else experienced this harsh performance drop with temperature increases?
Be thankful you don't live where I live (Palm Springs). It's currently 117 degrees F out here. 79 degrees is beach weather for us in SoCal. lol. That said, I can't imagine 79 degrees really having much of an impact on the car, unless you were driving with the A/C on of course.

So yeah, it seems like a sharp increase in temperature/humidity will see the ceiling drop pretty sharp on performance... My car has about ~1800 clicks on it now (1100 miles), so it's pretty well broken in.

I don't find that having the A/C on makes a huge difference, but it's noticeable. Going from a cool dry morning to a humid hot afternoon though is like night and day.

That's ok though.. I/H/E coming soon - that should help alleviate things
