Called my mom today to tell her I was cooking up a plan for proposing. Mom told me I can have the blood diamond ring my grandfather gave my grandmother. So, here's to diamonds won in poker games during war time.

Humfrz has a point. Maybe you could do the surprise with the ring how it is, then do what I did and take the stones and have them put in a new setting she picks out after. That way it is "hers", yet still has family history.

You never know, she might love the ring as is.

Smart move. Their is a chance she would just throw the ring out the window of your car during an argument ...... or ...... lose the damn thing ....... or ...... never wear it ....... or consider it part of "her" divorce settlement.......

That is the PERFECT thing for Cole! That way he can change the ring every few months. Much like exhausts and cell phones.
