Weird whine type sound during pulls

So today I noticed when driving my FR-S in 2nd and 3rd gear doing pulls from around 3-5k there is a slight whine sound, kind of like a whistle sound, is that normal or is that something i should be concerned about and have looked at. Thanks.

If I had to guess you are referring to tranny whine. If so, this is normal.

Mine whines when it's cold. Is it cold where you're at?

Yeah about the same here. It whines for the first 5-10 minutes and then it's fine after it's warmed through. Does yours persist throughout the entire drive?

How are your LTFT and STFT at idle and at 2500 RPM? AFR? It could be a vacuum or exhaust leak too.

What mods do you have?

5th is 1:1 so if it is gear whine then it should completely go away in 5th (it does in mine). If you hear whine in 5th then it’s got to be something else.

My IS300 whines like mad too. Except in 4th which is 1:1. The IS300 also has an Aisin transmission. It’s as if the gears are less helical than other transmissions.

Yea it usually only happens in 2nd and 3rd gear, never in 4th or 5th
