Is anyone else insulted by a 5% sale? I mean saving money is saving money but 5% isn't even enough to eliminate sales tax for TN residents (if charged for it online retailer). It's gotta be at least 10% to make a sale worth a damn! And free shipping!

10% isn't even enough to make me go to a website. Last year I saved 25% on a part I wanted.

@Diode Dynamics is offering 20% off for Black Friday with code BLACKFRIDAY. I just ordered six items, and the code seemed to work fine.

However, I kind of wish they would fix their website, because frankly it sucks ass. Last week I tried to use the code they gave me for free shipping, and it wouldn't work. They said they would give me free shipping if I called in the order, but by that time their system had emptied my cart.

If you try to use the "By Vehicle" search for BRZ or FR-S, the search results leave off about half the lamps they offer for our cars. You can find the full range of products if you use the keyword search for "BRZ" instead. However, if you search for "FR-S," "FRS" or "86," you get no results whatsoever even though they do carry items for both cars.

And I just realized that even though I received a confirmation email for my order, the shopping cart on the site still shows all the items I just bought, as if I haven't checked out yet.

So while the 20% off deal is pretty sweet, you'll need to be patient with their site. Maybe they'll sell enough today to make enough money to fix their broke-ass site.

insulted? lol.

so a company should sell stuff at cost or below because of black friday? that works (or used to) in retail because people come in to get the POS "door buster" and might get other stuff they look at along the way (or a substitute after finding out the store had 1 or 2 of the advertised item lol). Online shopping at smaller stores and you're expecting more? cmon.

It works online also, maybe even better than in the brick and mortar stores. If you advertise a "doorbuster" online and have a decent catalog of other parts available, people will add things to their order. I just did it myself on two different sites yesterday. It works even better if you have doorbusters that are priced $20 less than your threshold for free shipping, because people will go looking for extra stuff for their cart to get the shipping discount.

What's more, brick and mortar shoppers don't add additional items to their shopping carts as often as you'd think. The crowds make the shopping experience more stressful, so that once people score the doorbuster, they claim victory and run for the register to get the hell out of that mess. Online shoppers don't do that. Instead, they peruse the sites stress-free, adding items as they go.

Any discount is great on something you really want, but a 5% discount might not be enough to entice me to buy if I'm on the fence. There's also the possibility that the vendor might offer a deeper discount or just outright drop the price later. So while I wouldn't call it "insulting," I also wouldn't call it all that enticing either.

I bought something at the blazing discount of 10% yesterday, but due to a worldwide shortage of NAND flash memory, that's about as good as it gets. Almost saved the tax on the item, and it's something that rarely, if ever goes on sale, so I'm happy enough.

The things that we actually on sale, I more than made up for the smaller discount on the SSD.

THere's a big difference between not being enticed and being insulted by a discount lol. I'll take any discount i can get.

Black Friday isn't really even a thing anymore. Deals are had all year round thanks to internet giants like Amazon etc. In the case of specialty shops like ft86speedfactory, it's silly to expect discounts as if they were a super walmart or something.

You're right, I'll start giving them an extra 5% sale or no sale! What was I thinking!? I love spending money!

Guarenteed if they do a 10-15% off, they aren't near cost on the item. Most likely, their margin is 30 (at a low) to 45 on most items on their site. So if they sell something at $200 and they bought it for $130..... then what is the profit margin? Calculate it as $70 profit divided by $130 cost = about 54 margin. If they sell it with a 10% off, they still make $50 , or 38-margin . $50 profit divided by $130 cost = 38-margin. Not great.... but not bad either. Money made, is money made. Make happy customers.... not bewildered ones.
