I bought some RS*R Sports-i coilovers from RS*R USA about a month ago. I'm sending the car to Wilkinsons suspension to get the work and tune done. I was going to change out the coilovers myself but I won't have enough time to get it done this weekend.

Nice wheels Stevo! that's some seriously light stuff.

Any of you guys on the unsprung weight diet ever give the weight of the tyres a thought too?

For example I just bought some 225x45x17 tyres that are 20lb. In this size some tyres can easily be 26 or more pounds! Consider the forces operating further from the rotational centre and see that tyres make a big difference too!

My rims on my soon to be delivered 86 will be 8kg each and coupled with these tyres I will be 37.6lb per corner vs 41.4 for the stock 17s and Primacy tyres.

FYI the Primacy tyres are very light too!

Continental 225x45x17 Extreme Contact DW i think they were called. very light and a great all round tyre especially wet grip.

Interesting thing is this....

stock 16" GT wheels: overall diameter including tyre = 631.9mm

stock 17" GTS wheels: overall diameter including tyre = 625.3

My choice of 225x45x17 = 634.3

I wonder if the speedos on the GT and GTS are calibrated differently to account for this?

Either way i think people recommend staying within a few % either side of stock. My tyres on this calculation would be 0.4% different which is fine by me.

Real world may be different because tread height may vary a fair bit, haven't looked into it

Just got mine today.

Velocity Orange GTS AT. Very much struggling to stay under 4k RPM. Loving it, already needs a wash!
