Not sure how reputable this site is. Tried to find the Japanese press release without much success.

It is located here:

It's this car. Essentially Japans version of the USDM tS without the aero.

I was reading lately in XaCar magazine that all the new performance BRZ versions will use Sachs dampers. So, overall we'll have 3 JDM tS versions. One with the Showa dampers, one with the Bilstein and the latest one with the Sachs. As a side note, Tada San wanted to provide the Sachs dampers from day one, but at that time there were some issues with oil leaking. Sachs had to improve a bit their manufacturing process and qualify with the Toyota & Subaru standards.

Just want to say I wish I could read that, haha. I picked up one of the recent issues and it's fun to look at, but for me it's just a picture book/magazine at that point.

Question

So as someone looking to buy a 2018.... where the heck are they? It's October now and the BRZ is the only Subaru model that hasn't moved to 2018.

This chart was spot-on when it came to the other cars in Subaru’s lineup.

Our October allocation still includes MY17 BRZ’s.

Pre-pro's are at port. Sat in one today in Baltimore. #003 and #006 are there. Happy to report that the headunit is indeed a 7" Gen 3 (same software as the new Impreza, Crosstrek, etc) and DOES have Apple Carplay. I had heard they weren't going to the Gen3 software, so I was curious if they had added ACP to the current headunit.

Still no update on when sold orders open, so they're probably still a few months from hitting dealers.

So is it the same shell? You think it would be a drop in replacement for the 2017 HU or would it need the Canadian dash?

I have pictures that unfortunately I can't share, but I'll compare them to mine when I'm back in town this weekend to see. That having been said, I can 99.9% say that the wiring harness will be different. It has Sirius, so that's a clue-in right there. I'll keep everyone posted as I learn more. If it's a direct swap, you can hop right in line behind me

So was it a direct swap? Or is the Canadian dash trim needed for the new HU

Do you have any information on when people can start placing orders at dealers?

If you look a few posts up, you will see a chart that says initial order acceptance date for the 2018 model is Nov 6th, with expected delivery in February.
