And I do like the good answers here, but driving lessons and seat time aren't sellable items. It's a commercial for their site really, but I'm trying to make it more useful than their current version, while still meeting their seo needs.
Thanks for the 2 cents tho.
I think we understood that you are charged with a re-write. If you are calling it an advert for their site/business, it's even worse.

Do your own research, and buy useful quality parts.

That is part of the issue though. Many people consider the vender/manufacturer information as "research". How many times on here have we seen somebody using the vendor site to show that their $1200 turbo kit can make 400HP? The info from the vendors can range from straight forward and honest to downright lies with everything in between. Usually (not always) the cheaper the product the more outrageous the claims can be. If a vendor dynos that shiny new intake manifold 50 times at a HP loss but once they got a 5HP gain out of it then they are going to claim that gain and just forget about the losses. Only the most trustworthy of vendors site info should be believed but how do people know who is trustworthy?

Some vendors have a long history developing parts for different cars. If they were not trustworthy something would be heard until now. Not from everyone, but at least from some customers.

Yes and that is certainly one way of determining who stands above the others. If they show a product from development to completion and provide the data from that development then you may at least have some confidence in what they say. If a company pulls together a bunch of random parts, slaps them together, calls it a kit and says you will get 10,000 HP from it then the claims are dubious at best.
I restate that the problem lies in somebody new to the car modding scene being able to tell the two apart since the write ups can be similar. You need to go beyond the vendor websites to verify what they are claiming. That means actually doing research not just blinding trusting the info that a vendor provides.

Sometimes they don't want to provide all the details or how they developed a specific product. It happens to know a company that did what you said. They provided a bunch of parts that seemed randomly selectred and slapped them together in a kit with a tune. The truth was that they worked together with different other vendors and tested many many different parts until they found what was giving the best results for the particular engine. You might be an engine tuner or you might have a great theoretical background, but this doesn't mean that everything will work well on a specific engine. In our case a 4-cylinder small displacement boxer engine.

We are back to square one though. How well "tested" were those parts? Is there some way to confirm it? Did the "test" consist of "ya that fits"? Did they just keep dynoing until they got a graph that showed what they wanted and used that?
The whole point I am making is that using vendor information that is intended to SELL you their product as your sole source of information can be very tricky and the results are very often not what is promised. We see it here all the time from lightweight pullys to whole turbo set ups.
