People do get punctures that deflate the tire in minutes if not seconds. Carrying a spare is not for slow punctures it's for the case when you have an actual flat and you need to get home to feed your dog.

You seem to be a tire puncture outlier, I suggest you go hug a tree or sods law will kick in on your commute tomorrow and your dog will be getting its dinner later than normal.

Brought mine to the dealership today for it's 15000 mile check up. Under the ToyotaCare program, I got the oil and filter change, the tire rotation and a new cabin filter installed free of charge. I asked the service advisor if I could have the old cabin filter left for me. The technician put the old cabin filter in a plastic bag and left in on the front seat. When I got out to the car, I removed the new cabin filter and replaced it with the old cabin filter that I had vacuumed out the day before. Unless you are doing some serious off - roading with the FR-S, I really can't see replacing the cabin filter at 15000 miles - it was just grayer in color than the new one. Heads up to all - ask for the old cabin filter when they change out the new one at the 15000 mile service.

I finally got to take an on-ramp how I always wanted.

The ramp is a somewhat elongated 'S' curve with a particularly sharp final turn before you straighten out into the merge lane. Most people stick to the inside of the lane, cross over the white line into the shoulder, all while going about 30. They then forced themselves into the 4 lane highway with traffic moving at 75-90.

Such a pain in the ass to safely get into the flow of traffic. More so because the sun blinds you when looking over your shoulder, making it nearly impossible to judge the speed and distance of others.

But today I was the first person to the light and nobody was ahead of me. I stayed left, reached the final curve, hit the apex without going into the shoulder, and came out into the merge lane at 65, accelerated to 75, and breezed into traffic.

I looked back and the dude that was following right behind me in an Optima, as expected, got lost before the final curve and hobbled his way into traffic, no doubt forcing a great many people to slow or shove over.

I sure hope everyone who saw me heroically conquer the corner paid the FR-S its due respect.

I can take our Suburban around turns better than some can in sports sedans. Knowing how to drive can go a long way. I wish they taught a least some very basic driving techniques as part of the process of getting a license.

Let's be honest. The problem here is obviously Canada.

I hear ya. I drove my Miata (which does not come with a spare tire) for many ah mile with only a can of fix-a-flat, a plug kit and a plug-um-in air compressor.

I never had a flat tire. However, when on the long haul out in the bush, I was careful to inspect the tires (including pressure) each morning (no TPMS). Also, I was careful not to drive in "iffy" areas.

But I will admit, I feel more comfortable in my FR-S with its spare tire, although I've never had to use it.

Very true. Roads are shit because they're built by apes with no skill whatsoever. Even when finished, I'm driving on them like wow, this is new? Who quality approved this? I've been on newly paved roads in Europe and they're freakin works of art. Here you have 25 union protected useless idiots standing around collecting $40/hour probably watching a machine do its job. Then 2 years later the road is destroyed again. All cause certain companies wanna make money and lobby our government for these endless contracts that never end. There's always construction somewhere, always traffic. Roads here are incredibly bad. /Rant

They look like they'd be perfect for starting a fire!
