Actually it was the second floor ...... I remember having to walk up a set of stairs on the way to the car ...... and catch my breath while finishing off a cigarette. Maybe it was the ground floor on the other end of the parking garage ...... I don't recall, because I had a bad case of brain shake ......

Ya I guess it was the very top of the first ramp so would be above the ground.
Saturn probably still wouldn't have had a mark on it.

OK, I'm back ...... I had to make a run down to my daughters "chicken farm" to take a bucket to put water in for them since their water thing is leaking.

The stupid chickens we out in the run, wanting to get into the back yard ...... I had to kick a couple of them back in.

Yes, chickens are stupid ...... that's why they are used in toxicology labs as the animal of choice for neurotoxicity testing.

Which reminds me of back-in-the-day when I just started working at an agricultural research center, this entomologist ask me if I wanted to help him feed the mosquitoes. Now, how in the hell does one feed a mosquito ...... I had to go find out.

They kept a scourge of mosquitoes on hand to test compounds to see if they had juvenile mimic characteristics.

So, since female mosquitoes need a blood meal, they kept a few chickens on hand. The idea was to take a chicken out of the cage and place it feet first down into a container that exposed their legs and feet ....... and then let the mosquitoes in, which quickly cover their feet and legs and begin to feast on their blood meal.

THE END

Sorry for the ramble ...... the granddaughters will be back tomorrow, so I won't have as much free time on my hands ......

I've been raised not to, which I am very thankful for. I welcome criticism. For the most part, as long as its constructive. I'm going to have a bad time if you say "Your work sucks". Ok, well yeah. Tell me why?

I worry all the time about getting into the real world with a real job, i.e. working as a programmer at MS or some other tech company, as someone who is still young; it scares the living shit out of me.
Just don't make your future boss' life difficult. I've worked with a few people who just genuinely aren't good at the job, but they try hard and want to be better. Usually it's only for a few weeks that they suck, and they tend to get better.

It's when they start making problems for me, and don't want to own their actions that I start getting mad.

For example, here's the exact breakdown of events that led up to me being yelled at in the hotel parking lot by the problem child:

Approximately 2 weeks before this, one of my guys booked a flight from Edmonton instead of Grande Prairie. That's fine, he didn't know that he should have booked locally, instead of booking elsewhere. This just meant that to make his 6am flight, he had to leave town at 12am, and make a 4.5 hour, 450 km drive. Not ideal, and I let him know that kind of thing is not acceptable by any means in the company's eyes. This conversation was had with everyone on the crew as a witness, because I wanted them all on the same page.

Fast forward two weeks, and I asked what flight problem child booked. He booked the same fucking flight as the first guy. So first off, he straight up disregarded something I said. Second off, he cost the company a good chunk of extra money (paying for 2 trucks, and 2 people to make that drive, not to mention, parking in Edmonton costs twice as much as parking in Grande Prairie at the airport). So, I let him know that was absolutely unacceptable. I then had another conversation with the crew, to let them know that before they finalized any travel arrangements, they were to pass them up to me, and I would approve or deny the arrangements to avoid this debacle again.

That conversation with the entire crew ended up with problem child yelling something along the lines of "Stop wasting time, blah blah blah, no one gives a shit about what you're saying, blah blah blah, you're wasting time". The cherry on top was that he further wasted time, because he stopped for gas and coffee before actually leaving for work, while everyone else was already on their way to site, since they filled up with gas the night before.

So you spoke to everybody as a group the first time around and assumed he understood or even heard you?

You ain't seen nothing yet and if this makes you so mad you may as well pack it in now. Dude if this is the worst you have to deal with then you are laughing.

Everyone nodded in agreement. I spoke with the 2 guys who were actually on my flight, and they both clearly understood me perfectly and agreed that it was very unambiguous as to what I expected.
