I smoked from 14-52. I didn't want to use any aids because I felt it was just another way to get nicotine into my body and figured I'd be hooked on those. I wasn't comfortable with other meds.

The pain didn't last that long

I remember my moment well. I was in our maintenance locker underneath cat-1 sitting on top of a cruise box. Looked at the cigarette after a couple drags and crushed it out with that same utter disgust.

When I was about 10 years old a hawk took our alpha bantam hen. She was a feisty old thing that had hatched about 100 chicks over the years. We were very sad to lose her. About 3 months later she shows up at the coop door and desperately wants in. One wing missing, whole comb gone from her head, many feathers missing over new scar tissue from rips and tears and looking like total hell. She lived happily for a couple more years after that. I always did wonder just what she did to that poor hawk!
