The bolded statement. Why? Besides the whole rear seat thing I'd see them just as good if not better than the twin in almost any circumstance.
idunno man, I think gas mileage alone is a winning argument for the twins easily.

You don't know the gas mileage of anything C5+ then.

They're not completely equal in the city, especially if you're driving hard...but on the highway I'm pretty sure my Z got better mileage than my BRZ does. Put it in to sixth and the Z did 80 at slightly over idle RPMs.

The difference between driving a $30K car into the ground with huge miles and driving an $80K one. I would not want to put a Corvette through the daily grind the FRS takes. Mileage would be another factor in day to day use. The difference between 32MPG and 26MPG may not seem like much until you consider I go through two tanks of gas a week at the 32. The difference would get expensive fast. That isn't even considering the difference in cost of wear items and general maintenance.

There is also not a hope in hell I would be driving a Corvette in the winter for a number of reasons. The whole idea of having one car is to only have one car not a summer car and a winter beater.

The back seat thing would only come into play rarely but when I need a back seat I really need it so it does need to be considered. All these things are why I currently drive a Scion instead of a Porsche. The base Cayman was on my short list for a while but I just couldn't do it to the poor thing.

I can see not wanting to drive the car in to the ground. It is a pretty dramatic difference in cost when comparing new to new.

Mileage. I know the EPA estimates are higher 20's, I think they just downgraded it for 2017 to 26...but I know my LS6 car got low 30's on the highway. Almost any LS six speed car with factory gearing cruises just above idle RPM.

The height difference isn't that much, and winter tires can be equipped. Plus the stability control options on the corvettes are pretty diverse. What are the other reasons? We all talk about how balanced the twins are, corvettes have balance too.

I still want a Cayman.

I do not have personal experience to base mileage on so have to take the word of the rated average. The rated average for a 17 is 26mpg so that is what I base my considerations on. The cost of consumables and maintenance remains higher no matter what.

Ever seen the results of even the lightest tap on a fiberglass panel at -10? It ain't pretty. The sound of a salt truck flinging high velocity rocks at the front or the sides of an expensive car would be deterrent enough for me.

I almost think consumables are somewhat of a wash. Brakes are cheap for either, tires are more expensive for the vette, motor stuff is cheaper for the corvette on the most part. At least from what I've compared / experienced.

Your point about cold and fiberglass..... I'm not sure on that one. It would almost seem like any vette owner would have issues every winter, but I do agree with the salt truck sound, lol. That's awful on any car.

Don't know about your area but the number of Vettes you see in the winter around here is zero.
Not saying that any one of these things are a big deal when looked at individually and most could be dealt with but as an only vehicle when you add them all together the cons out weight the pros by such a huge margin that it is not even in the same universe as a Twin.

There are a few normal ones driven year round I saw on the old commute. Actually I saw more than twins, but I also saw more vettes normally then twins as well.

I only saw a couple and they're the same ones that hung around my old workplace.

I did just recently move, and have not seen a twin or a corvette on the streets locally....so...my whole world is upside down, lol.

Pretty girls. They look to be in their mid teens. Where I'm from you can get arrested for thinking some things.

The great American "sports car":
The total number of Mustangs for the same period is 453,748. The annual production of Mustangs is greater than the total number Twins in the USA. If you extend the Mustangs production back to 2006 (being reasonable they are still on the road) then you add another 603,184 for a total of well over a million of the things.

Since the Corolla was mentioned:
Same period 1,593,105 (yes over a million and a half since 2012). Taking them back to what could still be on the road adds 1,913,000. This gives a total of 3.5 MILLION.

There are 263 million registered cars in the USA.

The Twins are .03% of the registered cars in the USA and I think that makes them pretty bloody exclusive even if some people in some areas see 100 a day.
Do you need to spoil the discussion with hard facts? Kids were having fun
