Hello FT86 club thanks for the add.
About 3 weeks ago my father went out and treated himself to an early birthday present, a 2017 Subaru BRZ 2.0i 6-speed-manual and he is loving to say the least. So now his birthday is coming up in a month and I was wanting to get him something that is related to his new Subaru BRZ but I have no idea where to start. I was thinking maybe some cleaning products for his BRZ but the top of the range or something like that? What would you guys like as a gift on your birthdays? I have around £600 to get him a really nice gift and hoping you guys can point me in the right direction. Cheers

That's a lot of money. You don't need anywhere near that. However, go to www.ft86speedfactory.com. If your dad has back problems, you can get him some STI neck and back cushions

Does he do his own maintenance or detailing, or has he given any indication of wanting to start? Also, a drop-in air filter is always a good choice IMO. I'd recommend a dry-type over an oil type unless he's done modding before. Easier maintenance.
Edit: 2017s have some differences from earlier models, so if you get something car-specific make sure it fits a 2017. |

Some good options:
- AlwaysOn module from DiodeDynamics - Tap turn module from DiodeDynamics - JDM arm rest - Custom shift knob |

I would look into a detailing kit. Best gift I received for my wife and I's cars. We got a JaxWax kit for Christmas last year, awesome stuff. It's lasted all year for both of our 86s.

Imo get a custom or exterior matching shift knob, stock one feels kind of cheap

I would stay with some very basic stuff that doesn't take much work. I have some very classy plaques for the center console, the licence plate holder and the sills with BRZ written on them. Upgrading the rear lights is a good option, which is easy to do, but he may like what he has.
Alternatively...upgrade the sound system, as the 86 sound systems suck. Good luck!

Imo don't try to force him into any upgrades, be it cosmetic or power related. Everyone has different tastes. As suggested, cleaning kits are very valuable gifts, especially since he seems to enjoy his new toy. If you're willing to spend that much money on him, maybe offer to have Opti Coat applied? That will surely make him smile.

The front window sun shades are good value to keep the interior cool.
Oh, England. Does the sun go that far around the corner? Wasn't sure.

Yup, I'd avoid mods unless you are getting him one that he has already expressed interest in. He might want to keep it completely stock.
Assuming he likes cleaning his own vehicle, a nice car care kit would be a good buy. You can get some decent pre-made kits, but it might be nice and mean more if you build him a kit with the products you like to use and if you have your own cleaning/care regimen maybe share that with him. |

Buy him a gift certificate for a track day that he can use whenever he is ready to unleash the beast.
