Cobalt SS vs BRZ

Had the last version of the Chevy Cobalt SS. 256 HP, the works. a screamer for what it was. but handling was not at all equal to the BRZ. If I had more horsepower on my BRZ, I think I would kill myself around a tree. Thank you Subaru for keeping it sane but very fun.

So less handling makes for a safer car?

Who says you can't? Try, try, and try some more till you succeed.

That was sarcasm for those with weak google-fu.

Don't hurt yourself kid. Drive with a helmet.

Wha? So the implication is that more HP in a worse handling car is safer somehow? This is a very confusing post. OP, please explain.

I think he was just trying to compliment the car saying the whole package was just right and he is glad he didn't die in his last setup?

I don't believe it was a directly comparative statement.

He is saying the TWIN is a better handling car and also if it had more power he would be tempted to 10/10 it on the public roads. This would end up with him wrapped around a tree.

I agree with his evaluation.

The cobalt SS is like the Focus ST's retarded step-cousin.

Eh, the last cobalt SS was widely considered the best handling FWD car of its time. I think its nurburgring record JUST got beat by the new civic type R but I could be wrong there.... The turbo 4 GM motor also supported modifications easily, and had staged products available from GM.

It still holds up as a direct competitor to the current fwd turbo cars. Unfortunately, for such an overlooked car it was built on a cobalt.

Maybe I'm just turned off because a friend of mine has one and it is falling apart rapidly and vacuuming money.

Unfortunately that is the fate of many "tuner" cars. Try finding a nice SRT4 anymore. In ten years it will be the twins. People buy them cheap, do stupid stuff to them, hold off on maintenance etc and they fall apart.

You also didn't mention if it was an SC/SS or TC/SS, the TC ones seem to hold up slightly better.

It was a SC/SS. I thinks he's been through 2 engines in less than 100k miles. Stock except for a catback.

That is definitely atypical, lol. Engine problems weren't the problem with those vehicles.

Unless stupid kids got ahold of them and slapped smaller pullies on them with intake / exhaust and never tuned them. Which was common.....
