While the car was up, might as well throw on my VELOX/FT86 rear diffuser. Great piece, perfect fit.

LOL yup, I actually went on a beautiful 350-mile road trip yesterday with my wife to visit her younger sister at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Part of it was a nice little stretch of curvy roads and I had a chance to test out the new HKS HiperMAX setup.

Everything worked together seamlessly, better than I ever hoped for, great power, solid ride but comfortable and compliant, the car was an absolute pleasure to drive. Got many thumbs up as well.

Returned 30 MPG on the way home.

Sounds like an amazing road trip, glad to hear the HKS coilovers are working out for you. Can you tell me more about how they compare to your previous ST coils? What spring rates with the HKS did you go with? The HKS were in the running for me initially but unfortunately I talked myself out of them and went with something else that I'm not satisfied with.

Car looks absolutely perfect, congrats on being done with the exterior.

Okay, get ready for this..it's kinda long with a fail on my part lol.

Honestly, the ST Coilovers are still one of my favorite setups. It was set up perfectly from the factory as far as damping and comfort, the ride quality and everything was perfect. No noises either.

The reason why I switched out was that for some reason my passenger rear always sat higher than the rest of the car, approximately 3/4-1 inch HIGHER. I figured it had to be something with my car because I had the same issue with my Bilstein B14s as well. In order for me to get a completely even ride height, I pretty much had to lower the spring perch on passenger rear until they almost bottom out, which bothered me since I'm anal like that.

I figured I needed to get a set of coilovers which I could raise and lower without affecting the spring pre-load. That's why I went with the HKS, it's a great quality monotube coilover set that has what I was looking for. So after installing it I still had the same issue with my passenger rear sitting higher by about 1" but this time I can compensate by adjusting the individual coilover up or down without messing with the spring preload/spring rate.

Upon closer inspection, I noticed that when I preloaded my bushings before tightening everything up, I missed the two top bolts on the upper rear control arms. I loosened those, preloaded the suspension and tightened everything up. Voila, that solved my issue on why my passenger rear was sitting so much higher.

If I would have done this in the first place, I wouldn't have switched out the ST coilovers. Don't get me wrong, the HKS are great, but the way it's setup right now, it rides and handles very similar to the ST with slightly better rebound. I got the HKS GT version so it has the softer spring springs for street. The HKS seems to make more noises, I attribute that to the pillow ball top mounts. The ST uses the stock top hats and is quiet like stock. Overall, I think the ST coilovers are the best setup for the $$$ bar none and I highly recommend them.

I really love this piece, and the great thing is it's fully functional which reduces both lift and drag, even though I purchased it mainly for aesthetics reason.

I've had my eye on it for a while but the $530 pricetag for a piece of powder-coated sheet metal was bit hard to stomach. I finally pulled the trigger and glad I did, it's a very high-quality piece, and when I took it out you can see a lot of thought was put into designing it. All the hardware was top quality, everything lined up and fits perfectly. Still don't know if it was worth the $$$ but I really do like the way it cleans up the rear end so I'm happy.

There were multiple times as I got through the thread where I was thinking, 'oh wait before he does X I've gotta comment and be sure he knows' and you routinely had a solution.

The B14's are very nice coilovers, I've seen people convert them to a non-conical Swift spring using a top spring mount, but the ST's are SUCH good sports car coilovers, (and my personal choice as well.)
Thanks for the kind words man.

I agree Jazzle about the ST coilovers, I think it's the best setup for the money. Check my reply to Clipdat a couple posts up to see the reasoning for my switch to HKS. The ST setup I think is perfectly setup from the factory for our cars.

How would you compare the Bilstein B14s to the STs?

Been watching this thread for about a month. On a personal note I'm an old fuddy and find some of the builds on here a tad 'Tasteless'. I accept there is nothing wrong with modding your car and making it your personal canvas, I also accept that some people don't seem to understand the concept of 'Balance'.
You have achieved exactly that' 'Balance', not to low, not too wide, not too anything. There is a good metric for a well balanced car; "Would anyone feel silly sitting in the drivers seat?" in your case I believe the answer is no.
I know that most car modders do not care what other people think of their mods I applaud that attitude, after all it's your car. But remember just because the public is looking at you does not mean they like what they see.

So with that in mind keep up the excellent work, hopefully your build will set an example to others on how to tastefully paint your canvas.
