Aren't they taking bids from the tire companies on who gets to be the spec tire? My assumption was since this is all through Tire Rack they're going to accept offers on which company supplies the spec tire so they can profit while keeping costs lower than elsewhere to incentivize people purchasing through TR.

How do they say you can race a spec twin in STX too when the spec twin is allowed to have rear lower control arms AND rear toe arms too?

There is precedence with Spec Miata in DSP, basically they recognize that the non-class legal upgrades are less helpful than the mods they aren't allowed to use.

The real question is if they can use a non-spec tire when running in STX, like the Spec Miatas can run any DSP legal tires.

The other option is to allow rear toe arms in STX, since those are the only parts from SSC that aren't STX legal in the first place. Really, the either or rule is silly (same with some of the issues with allowing things like LCA's but then outlawing the most common types).

They should open things like oil coolers to all classes so SSC (and others) can track an autocross car more reliably, SCCA wants to try to expand participation but they hyper manage classing and disciplines so much that crossover is nearly impossible.

I believe the SPC toe arm is legal in conjunction with any legal LCA in Street Touring, just ordered a pair today to help with my alignments. If the bushing measures out as legal per the metal/non-metal rule I'll use them. Ball joint on the outboard side is same as OE from what I can tell. And it looks like there's a Whiteline option that looks legal if you want something prettier, but that won't be legal in SSC.

I think we've just been reading the rule wrong. It's not a huge benefit, just nice for diyers.

I assume there will be clarification on tire usage for STX in the future. As for illegal STX parts (just for clarification), I believe the LCA is the only illegal part due to the bushing.

I didn't see it spelled out anywhere, but can we still use spacers/extended studs to get to the 40mm offset with the wheels we choose?

At this point I'm proceeding with the assumption that cat-back, brake pads, and drop-in filter are all being run under the street class rules. Has anyone heard otherwise?

I inferred the same thing from the press release.

Will local regions follow suit and offer SSC as an actual class? I know the regions have flexibility in classing at the local level, but I wonder if some regions determine the SSC cars have to run in STX or SP or only on PAX or something?

My local gets their class list from the SCCA every year, but there is another group I run with that uses none of the SCCA classes directly.

I would expect clubs that use SCCA classing to include SSC next year.

Oh, and nice meeting you at Nationals!

Same here.

Well, I did have a clunk after my second autox event. I torqued the endlinks and haven't had a clunk since.

I also am using the stock sway bar links with my Strano front bar and I have no clunks. I HAD clunks and it took me a while to chase it down but it turned out to be a lose sway bar end link nut. Simply put, I had to spend time and energy controlling the rear end when auto crossing, and would occasionally spin, before installing the Strano bar. Now it's just "point and shoot."

This is great. I have a hard time with the rear end on my stock BRZ as well. In just about any corner I attack, unless it's cambered, it feels like rear end is standing on its hind legs or like its tippy toes instead of hunching down and gripping, even if I'm managing the balance of the car (i.e., not lifting mid corner). I hope my Strano bar also helps with this
